Unfortunately NJIT lost its 1st match at the Prudential Center to Army 44-54.
It started off pretty badly allowing Army to score the 1st 14 points which ensured the victory for Army.
Jheryl Wilson, who has been playing in Newark since his St Benedicts days, was the only Highlander who really capitalized at the new home-court, registering his personal best of 16 points off the bench in 26 minutes of play.
Nesho Milosevic had a game high of 13 rebounds. The team had 23 turnovers and allowed the visitors to score 20 points off them. Team leading scorers Kriag Peters and Nesho Milosevic were reduced to combined 6 points in this game whereby NJIT only made 35% of its field goals and 47.6% of its free throws.
It seems that NJIT has to really improve on its shootings and cut down on turnovers in order to win any of the remaining matches and to attract more fans. The match at the premium arena attracted 932 fans.
On the bright side, Adriana Johnson became NCAA Division I Independent women's basketball Newcomer of the Week (see

I certainly look forward to see both teams perform better....they are capable of doing better....
