The NJIT Ladies' Basketball team scored its first away win this season by defeating the University of Texas - Pan America 67-61 in Texas on 09 Jan 2008 in their first Independent Conference game this season.
With this win, the Lady Highlanders are 3-10 overall and 1-0 in the Independent Conference.
4 Highlanders posted double-digit totals with Sophomore forward Taiwo Oyelola and senior Erika Velez registering their career highs of 20 points and 19 points respectively.
The Ladies Highlanders would be playing a neutral game in Texas against Cal-State Bakersfield today.
The NJIT Men's Basketball team are still without a win this season at 0-17 after losing to University of Pennsylvania 79-68 in PHILADELPHIA earlier on this week. They would be playing against Columbia in the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center on campus in Newark on 12 Jan 2008 (this Saturday).
All the best to both teams in the next few games.

The Women's team also recently recruited two new players:
a: Ivana Seric, a 6-foot-2 wing/post player from Croatia.
b) Shannon Seager, a 6-foot-3 center from Waverly, NY.
With these 2 additions, the NJIT ladies' team should be more competitive next season as they enter their final reclassification season.
