ESPN Power Rankings

Pacers ranked 20th

Our team is a little depleted right now, but come on, 20th? They also insult the Pistons while ranking them #7.

How the mighty have fallen. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Pistons rank 30th in bench points per game (16.6). Phoenix is No. 29 at 18.4, but Suns aren't known for their bench.

What's even worse is that they don't even give an explanation for Indy's:

The latest from a season in flux: NBA announces that All-Star votes for Artest won't count, and Carlisle's count is up to 15 different starting lineups already.

Espn is trash. Ranking the Pistons #7? They lost to the ****ing Bobcats.

thats not such a bad ranking... what i do find retarded though is that they say 'how the mighty have fallen' yet they move UP in the rankings. come on espn, at least be consistant

I think Pacers at 20th is fine, but Pistons at 7th is pretty ridiculous. Blazers have the same record, in the west, and are 16th. Definitely getting by on reputation alone in these rankings.

20 is about right, remeber it is how "powerful" the team is right now. Right now we have our three top scorers out.

well they did rank us 8th last week when we were 10-10, so it seems normal that they moved us up one when we won more games than we lost, esp. with a win against cleveland.

it's not really that espn power rankings is inconsistent, they just just ranked us too high in the first place. At a 8-8 record, we were coming 6th before

Noone is going to count the Champs out until they are out. That's what it's all about. I assume once JO and Jackson get back, thePacers will shoot up the charts. All it is a ranking of the top teams in the league while taking into account how they're playing this year. For some teams more than others.

Actually i just looked into it and its also because ESPN has traditionally given defending champs a nice spot on their power rankings.

So this years Pistons ranking is no different from the high ranking of the spurs and lakers after their championship years, even with a start as slow as theirs.

I agree, it's lost meaning about Power Rankins for the week. To me the standing are more like an outlook for a while

I'm just biased but I think the Pistons are a middle of the road team right now. They need to beat some teams and go on a winning streak to deserve that ranking. Pacers are about right, remember we did lose 7 in a row.

Even after they won last year, I thought the pistons were overrated. They will be until BW learns how to play basketball and get called for fouls, cuz he fouls on every play. Along with the rest of team.
