Gary Payton?

The Celtics traded Payton, who had been playing well, to Atlanta with the expectation that he would not play there and that the Hawks would try to negotiate a buyout and waive him. By the end of the week, Hawks General Manager Billy Knight said he was in discussions with Payton's agent, Aaron Goodwin. Miami and Indiana are interested, and the Celtics could get him back.
I think this could be a true indicator Jamaal Tinsley's injury is worse than we are being lead to believe.
Its a long shot at best but does signal Tinsley could be out a while.

Signing Payton would be great, but I do agree with the guy that it could signal Tinsley being out for a while. Payton still has a lot left, and I'd have no problem making him our starter over Anthony Johnson while Tinsley's out. He could also mentor Tinsley, especially on the defensive end.

Re: Gary Payton?
If Tinsley's out, then it's a good signing. I don't know if Payton would get upset about being behind him though when Tinsley's back.

Re: Gary Payton?
If Tinsley is out it would be a good pickup, but this is something I don't think will happen.

Yeah, that's exactly what I think.

They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus.

Re: Gary Payton?
I'm sure Indiana has expressed interest in Payton...but the question remains as to whether or not he has expressed interest in us. I'm sure he is much more likely to go out west...I doubt he sees us as a playoff contender, and you know he wants that ring. I will certainly welcome him though.

Re: Gary Payton?
Payton does still have a lot left in him, but I don't think he will end up here. I predict Miami where he sees that as a better shot for the ring he covets so dearly.
