Did Deadline Deals Hurt Pacers' Chances?

Quote:
Q. With Philadelphia getting much better, this means the Pacers have to step it up. The Pacers in my opinion are not in the top eight, they need to play better. They have to beat out a team like the Magic to make it. Philadelphia already is a lock. So the two-to-three teams they have to beat out are Orlando, Chicago, and Cleveland. We all know Cleveland has the ability to plummet, just like Orlando and Chicago. However, Philly does make this race very much tighter than it was. Sure (the Pacers) have a tough road, but how dangerous can they be (without) Ron Artest? (From Alex in Indianapolis)

No, I don't think that no deadline deals for the Pacers hurt them. Here's why, first off, Philadelphia is not going to be much better, they are still going to struggle because Iverson will still be hogging the ball, and Webber won't be seeing a lot of points. Making it past Orlando, Chicago (although they always seem to have our number), and Cleveland shouldn't be too hard; we played Orlando and Cleveland in the past week and we beat them respectively. So I think that we can make the playoffs at either a 6, 7, or 8th seed, without much trouble.

They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus.

I still don't think there is any chance of Artest coming back this season, but even without him, we will make the playoffs easily.

I'm a Sixers fan, and I wouldn't say that we're a lock.

Re: Did Deadline Deals Hurt Pacers' Chances?

If Allen Iverson actually realizes that winning a championship is more important than his own stats, him and Webber together with Kyle Korver could turn into a team better than the Cavs. Walker and Pierce don't need to get used to each other again, and they make each other better, so they should also be a threat. The deadline deals hurt us a lot, but there was nothing we could do, so we just need to sit back and relax.

Re: Did Deadline Deals Hurt Pacers' Chances?

I'd say they hurt, but more along the lines of a scrape than broken bone. The trades don't change the fact that I believe whether or not the Pacers make the playoffs is entirely up to the Pacers.

Re: Did Deadline Deals Hurt Pacers' Chances?

Yup, Celtics and 76ers definitely got better, but just because it hurts the Pacers chances does not mean that it destroys the Pacers chances of making the playoffs. They are going to be a brink team, probaly the 8th seed at best, but Ron Artest had a big offensive and defensive impact for this team, so I would not be surprised at all if the Pacers failed to make the playoffs this year because of the brawl.

Re: Did Deadline Deals Hurt Pacers' Chances?

The way Philadelphia and Orlando are playing, it'd be tough for the Pacers to miss the playoffs. The only difference is, if we end up with the sixth seed, Boston would be a tougher opponent than they would have been if they hadn't made this trade. I don't see us getting any higher than seventh, so it wouldn't make any difference either way.

Idk about Philly, but Orlando looks like crap.

1. Miami (given)
2. Detroit (given)
3. Boston
4. Chicago
5. Cleveland
6. Washington
7. Indiana
8. Philidalphia

that is my guess on how the East turns out.
