Pacers are slipping as they approach the playoffs

Well regardless of the fact that we have won 7 of our last 10, we are on a 2 game losing streak now and seem to have lost some confidence with our ball movement and overall game. These last two games are really going to need to be strong games to get our confidence back up. Plus with the addition of JO, I fear that we are just going to fall back to watching him post up whenever he is out there like we did when he played today.

Do you think we can get back together and regroup over these last 2 games to enter the playoffs playing strong basketball?

Re: Pacers are slipping as they approach the playoffs

To be honest, I don't think we are going to win both of these games. The way we have played these last few games doesn't look good (no ball movement whatsoever), and with Jermaine back our ball movement is going to suffer even more. I'm counting on Rick to make the guys moving the ball a little more rather than passing it into JO every time down the floor.
We also need some kind of boost off the bench, I'm hoping that Carlisle starts JJ instead of Jack so we can get that boost off the bench that we are missing right now.

if we win our last 2 and wash loses theirs we are tied...wash plays nets and knicks and the tiebreaker is 2-2 so what would happen?

Re: Pacers are slipping as they approach the playoffs

I haven't been able to see much of us for the past week so I can't really draw an opinion on how we've been playing. I really do hope that we don't stand around with Jermaine in. Ball and player movement is the key to us not losing in the first round.

Pacers' grip starts to slip

Quote:
The Pacers clinched a playoff berth last week with plans to earn home-court advantage in the first round.

That's now a long shot.

Forward Jermaine O'Neal played his first game in more than a month, but it didn't stop the Pacers from dropping their second straight game, 84-80 to the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena on Sunday afternoon.

"We've put ourselves in a hole the last two games," Pacers point guard Anthony Johnson said. "Both times it happened in the fourth quarter."

The loss prevents the Pacers from passing fourth-place Chicago (46-34) in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers (43-37), currently the sixth seed, can still earn the home-court edge in the first round if they can tie Boston's won-loss record. The Celtics (45-35) have to lose their last two games and the Pacers must win their last two. The Pacers hold the tiebreaker over Boston because they won the season series 2-1.

"We have to try to play well and win a couple of games," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "We have two games left to solidify our position; we don't want to drop any lower. Right now that has to be our focus."

Re: Pacers are slipping as they approach the playoffs

Well, it looks like our fears have come true. We need to get back to the style of basketball that we were playing when were on a tear a while back. I don't know why this is so hard to get across to the players...but something has to be done.
