Freddie Jones' minutes
How many minutes do you see Freddie getting next year? I hope his minutes can be similar to what Al Harrington was getting as a 6th man. I can't wait to see what Freddie brings to the table next year.

I'm definately hoping he can get around 30 minutes per game like Harrington, but with Jackson, Artest, and Tinsley in front of him, that seems unlikely. I think he'll make a great 6th man, though, so 25 mpg isn't out of the question. If he could improve so much last summer, imagine what he could do this year. I wouldn't doubt him getting some serious consideration for 6th man of the year.

Re: Freddie Jones' minutes
Assuming our roster stays the same, I don't want Freddie Jones playing any point guard unless we're desperate for depth at that position (i.e., one of our PG's gets injured). That being said, I think James Jones is the better player and assuming we re-sign him, there aren't any minutes for Freddie. We should use a three-man rotation at SG and SF, with Stephen Jackson playing 36 minutes per game at SG, Ron Artest playing the other 12 minutes at SG and 24-28 minutes at SF, and James Jones getting the other 20-24 minutes at SF.
Although Freddie is one of my favorite Pacers, he is trade bait unless James isn't re-signed and even if James walks, Freddie will get at most 24 minutes per game, which isn't enough to compete for 6th man of the year. Though, I actually think we won't re-sign James because our payroll is too high already.

Re: Freddie Jones' minutes
He's more of an offensive threat than J. Jones, and he's a good rebounder for the SG position.

I really wouldn't mind him getting some PG minutes. He's not a great PG, but he can set up other players and can shoot better than Anthony Johnson.

There is no way James Jones is better than Freddie. James is a nice role player, but he's never going to be a player you actually look to score. Freddie easily has an equal jumpshot to James, but he is also 100 times better at penetrating.

Have you heard about the Jonathan Bender to LA trade? I'm almost certain this will happen since we haven't worked out one player yet. Besides, I doubt James Jones will be asking for much. Even though he had a pretty good year, no one knows who is and no one will be offering him much more money than the LLE.

Anthony Johnson is actually a pretty good shotter. I'd put them equal.

Yeah, at the 16-18 foot range. When it comes to 3's, Freddie has him beat.

Re: Freddie Jones' minutes
Freddie is a better player than JJ. Though JJ has really stepped it up. Freddie is just more well rounded and has way more confidence on the floor, which I think JJ is still looking for. A lot of people have been judging Freddie by his performance in the playoffs when he had his broken finger. I remember earlier this year Freddie was talking about wanting to win the 3 point shoot out and become one of the best 3 point shooters in the league and how he was going to work tirelessly over the summer to get there. I respect that. I really think Freddie will get a lot of playing time next year.
I do agree with RP that we should use a 3 man rotation at SG/SF, but I think it should be between Artest/Jax/Freddie. Obviously Freddie wouldn't touch the 3 spot though. I wouldn't mind seeing JJ get into the PF rotation a bit. He could easily spread the floor with his 3 point threat at the 4...kinda like Croshere was supposed to be doing. JJ is als a great rebounder and knows how to play the 4 spot pretty well.

Re: Freddie Jones' minutes
Just throwing this out there:
What if the pacers pulled what the suns did this year? Namely:
Shift JO to center
Shift Artest to PF
Shift Jackson to SF
Put Freddie in at SG
Keep Tinsley at the point
I know tinsley is a few miles away from Steve Nash, but I think this team could compete. At least against teams where matchups dictate, I would have no problem with this starting five, except this: Ron Artest's defensive skills are shutdown on the perimeter, and by moving him from swingman to big man you lose a lot of what he brings to the table.
