Freddie isn't going to be a 3rd stringer. Ron Artest is not a SG, and even Stephen Jackson there is pushing it (I think he's more of a SF). James Jones will most likely be a 3rd stringer if he's re-signed, but that will be at the SG and SF. Freddie will still get some solid minutes.

True, but we didn't need an upgrade there to win the championship. That's why drafting someone that can insure we keep winning the championship in the future would have been good.
|
And Granger will help insure that. He's starter quality, only he'll be a great bench player for a few more years.

How so? Artest got 25 PPG and was still great on defense.

Artest has unbelievable endurance. For instance, Tracy McGrady or Kobe Bryant could be great defenders, but can't it their all because they always give all their energy on defense, and don't want to pick up fouls. If Green is going to be a 20ppg+ scorer, we won't be able to afford him not playing D.

He's a very capable backup in some situations, but he's going to be too short in others, so Green/Garcia would have been nice to have to prevent mismatches.
|
Garcia isn't any more of an upgrade defensively than Freddie. He's so thin, he'll constantly get pushed around. Green I mentioned earlier.

People are saying he's starter quality already.

On a team that doesn't need a starter. This gives us great 6th/7th men in Freddie and Granger. We missed a backup Forward who could score when Al Harrington left, so Granger will really help.

I don't know what Green or Granger have to do with Tinsley, but if Artest got kicked out of the league, than Green is also capable of playing SF. It would hardly cost us the championship.

Green is a SG, and if Artest was kicked out of the league in the next 3 years, Green wouldn't be able to step in.
