Re: Pacers to give Artest tryout at power forward

I love the idea...

its not like their gonna get weaker defensively....the only problem I see is on the boards...Foster is a terrific rebounder (hell, thats all he does). Ron would have to improve his rebounding...which is strange considering he's such a physical player; that with his size/strength it would seem as if he was a terrific rebounder....

the lineup would put Indy's best offensive players on the court and thats always a plus....

.if Shawn Marion can play PF out west....why cant Artest? he's bigger, stronger and more importantly better

I know plenty of old timers and HOFer's that claimed defense in the late 90's and early 2000's weren't as good as the 80's. Wilt once said he'd average 70 ppg in the modern-day NBA because defenses were so much worse. Pippen once said KG was a stats guy who disappears down the stretch of games. Bill Walton once said Rasho was a better interior defender than Tim Duncan because Tim Duncan was on the bench at the time. Barkley once said Argentina was located north of the Indian ocean.

Love the Marc Jackson-Jeff Van Gundy combo...

Because the Suns run around the court instead of playing a halfcourt offense. As a PF, Artest would have trouble scoring because he won't be able to move a lot of PF's in the post, and his perimeter skills aren't great. He really wouldn't be able to spread the floor like Dirk Nowitzki. On defense, he could probably be decent as a post defender, but 7'ers would be shooting jump hooks and dunking on him all day.
