Player Expectations: Austin Croshere
Sadly, unless a move is made, Austin Croshere is our backup PF this year. Although it's good to have some variety at the 4, we don't have much inside scoring and our rebounding is worse. The only Center we have that is actually a threat is David Harrison, but he can't even rebound, so putting him and Croshere in the game at the same time would be terrible. Scot Pollard and Jeff Foster both have decent jumpers for big men and can score inside on occasion, but can't be relied on for it. So whenever JO's out of the game, we're always going to be weak at either rebounding or inside scoring. Austin Croshere is a good player who would probably make a nice backup on most teams, but we really need a backup PF who is a good rebounder and post scorer.
Austin Croshere's 2004-2005 stats:
73 games played

.23 bpg
37.8% on FG's
25.9% on 3's
88.3% on FT's

Austin Croshere's Projected 2005-2006 stats:
76 games played

.9 apg
.37 spg

Re: Player Expectations: Austin Croshere
If Croshere gets his minutes, we'll see results. I've always believed that he's the type of player who needs real playing time to be effective, he can't be effective only playing in one and two minute spurts. With him, confidence is such a big factor. So he needs the playing time to keep his confidence high. I don't mind him being our back up PF as far as offense is concerned, because he really can be a huge energy player and difference maker as long as he is playing with confidence.

If not for Isiah Thomas ruining his confidence, Croshere would probably be a much better player now. Who ever heard of a player going on 30 who doesn't have confidence in himself? He'll be getting the same amount of minutes on a contending team now as he did on the .500 Thomas team. Even if he plays with confidence, he's not the type of player we need as a backup 4. I would say that he could play some 3, but apparently he plays much better with slower players guarding him on the perimeter.

The more minutes he gets, the more dunks he'll miss. I expect some good games out of him, but nothing spectacular.

Croshere isn't a bad rebounder. I can recall a few games where he absolutely dominated the glass. He is inconsistent though.

He still can't score on the inside and spends too much time on the outside waiting for 3's.

Re: Player Expectations: Austin Croshere
I expect him to be disappointingly average. As for the crap about Isiah ruining his confidence, Larry has confidence in him. That should be enough.
