NBA players will donate more than $1 million to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts as part of a league-sanctioned exhibition game at 5 p.m. Sunday at Toyota Center.

The game, whose organizers include former Rockets guard and TNT analyst Kenny Smith, will be broadcast at 10 p.m. Sunday on TNT and will include public service announcements soliciting contributions to the American Red Cross' relief efforts for Katrina victims.

"The game is a show of our support and solidarity for those affected by this natural disaster," Smith said. "As professional athletes we've been very privileged. These are the types of communities that we come from, and this is one way we can help take care of our own."

Tickets start at $300 each for courtside seats, including a chance to meet with players. Other tickets range in price from $10 to $25. Special arrangements will be made for Hurricane Katrina victims to attend.

Tickets are available by phone at 866-446-8849, on the Internet at www.toyotacentertix.com and at area Randall's stores and the Toyota Center box office.

Players scheduled to attend include LeBron James, Cavaliers; Kobe Bryant , Lakers; Kevin Garnett , Timberwolves; Jermaine O'Neal , Pacers; Stephon Marbury , Knicks; Dwyane Wade , Heat; Amare Stoudemire , Suns; Paul Pierce , Celtics; Alonzo Mourning , Heat; Antonio McDyess, Pistons; and Steve Francis , Magic.

Also, Sam Cassell , Clippers; Ron Artest, Pacers; Chauncey Billups, Pistons; J.R. Smith , Hornets; Dahntay Jones , Grizzlies; Mike James, Rockets; Lindsey Hunter , Pistons; Derek Anderson , Rockets; and Carlos Boozer, Jazz.

The Mavericks' Avery Johnson will coach one of the teams. Smith will broadcast the game with Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley and Craig Sager .
I am extremely happy to see that Ronny is in this game. I can't wait to watch him play again...a month early!

That's great that all those players are playing in this charity game. I hope they earn enough from this game to help a lot of people. Where are all the people who said during the Olympics, that NBA players are a bunch of selfish thugs who only care about themselves and their salaries?

I'm just disappointed that I'll be on a plane back to Boston while the game is going on, so unfortunately I won't be able to watch it.

Re: J.O. and Ronny playing for Katrina Fund

Definetly awsome. Anything anyone does for this tregedy is good in my book. It's very nice that the NBA would do such a thing, they will raise tons of money, and good to see 2 Pacers players in it, since our team was effected by Granger and Bender. I hope Artest doesn't try to show anyone up though and make himself look bad, like his comment in the espn the mag few years ago, when he said he always plays hard. Someone needs to tell him this is a game for charity.

Also, the article above states the game will be 10pm, i was watching NBA TV last night before going to bed, and they said the game will be shown on ESPN at 11pm. Does anyone know which one it really will be?

Just reminding people the game is tomorrow, and reminding to donate. Even a $1 at a local store will go a long way. I hav't been perfect so i can't really talk much, i've only donated $15 thus far, and will probably give like $10 tomorrow at the Bills game if i see a Red Cross person, but if you have extra cash, or don't buy lunch one day and give like $2-3, would be awsome.

Re: J.O. and Ronny playing for Katrina Fund

Anyone watch this game? Pretty interesting, it was all for fun, no serious ball obviously since it was for chairty. Couple awsome parts of the game, a guy on the East team (WHITE) wore a Yellow jersey with Yellow shorts. I forget who it was to be honest, but there was a guy on the West team (Dark jerseys) who had a yellow jersey with yellow shorts, and they both played alot of minutes on the court at the same time so that was confussing.

Also, i don't know the story since i watched this game on mute at the bar, while watching Baltimore vs. Colts in sound, but Tyronne Lue, i guess maybe forgot or mis placed his jersey, so he wore #10 Detriot Pistons Lindsay Hunter jersey, but he put tape over "Hunter" and wrote in pen "Lue". It was pretty funny, like i said i didn't have sound, but i bet Charles Barkey ripped him for it.

But the players did an awsome thing by donating that much money and time to help out, so awsome job to all who helped. Here are some photos of the game i found online.

Re: J.O. and Ronny playing for Katrina Fund

I thought it was a beautiful game, because of what it was for. Truly a wonderful night of basketball to try to lighten things up.

I liked Ronny's play, had some good passes/assists and scored some good points. JO had a good dunk as well.

Was up MillerTime, I am and will always be a die-hard Buffalo fan, and I'm glad to hear that you are too, we killed the Texans and will destroy TB next week. I've never been to a game but hopefully soon I'll be there...
BTW you posted great pics of the game it was nice to see J.O. and Ronnie back on the court, but that was the last thing on my mind, like I said before it was all about our brothers and sisters in N.O.
