Pacers as of Now
There have been many posts/ comments/ articles made attempting to explain the current situation of the pacers. Like any good poster, I will attempt to join the masses and offer up my own lil' thoughts.
The Disease: A downward spiral of losses and techs.
The Symptoms: Loosing to loosing team, loosing to winning teams, loosing on the road, loosing at home...in a word Loosing. Also, Artests new trend of "ill only play half the games"
But Why doc Heat fan? WHY???
Well here is my not so expert anaylsis, straight off the misspelled page of my thoughts.
Tinsley: Tinsley is a second year struggling with not just basketball, but life in general. I dont know if u guys know this, but his mom is about a day away from death. Yes thats rattling, Yes Tinsley's concerns are away from basketball right now. He is rattled, and it doesnt help that on court the opposing team mentally break him down (he is suseptible to taunts more than any other pacer). Also, during the offseason he totally changed his shot, he has been struggling with this.
So then whos running the point you ask:
Eric Strickland is a vagabond, asked to start. Not good. not good at all. And hes not good for all game. So when you dont have a reliable tinsley, and your backup is sub par at best, where do u look?
Isiah Thomas, Bane of my basketball existance:
Ill tell you where you look... try to sign someone PLEASE PACERS HAVE AN EXTRA SPOT. however thomas has a better idea. Let Artest and mercer play point. Not only does this hurt these two guys production, it also leads to sloppy play, cuz the pacers have no pt gaurd. Isiah i will say over and over is the #1 reason for the pacers struggles...
and that leads us to the next man... Artest:
Artest is emotional. He is one of the few bball players that would sign with a better team for less money. some call him crazy, others call him driven. I call him a sore looser. He doesnt like to loose, in fact, he hates it. This desire brings up the team during win streaks, and hurts it when on loosing streaks. In other words, Artest makes the good better, and the bad worse. He was a huge factor for the great ball early in the season, and by the same token, he is a huge reason for the decline as well....
which brings us to the rise and decline:
not much to say here, just that the pacers early schedule was very easy, and the 2nd half is very hard.
Which, cuz i love non sequiters, brings us right to brad miller. This man is hurt. His absense not only robs the pacers of a good low post threat, but depleats the pacer bench, moves j.o. to center, and takes away stability. B. Miller is very constant, and this lacks. Hopefully this will end soon, as he should be back within a week.
Finally, thoughts on uncle reg...he is like the house of lords in england if that makes sense. He was once so powerful, now he might actually be a liability sometimes. However he hangs around due to his prestige. Take that comment for what its worth, but I think that he shouldnt be starting.
So when will da pacers get outta this slump??
i predict when the following conditions are met, the pacers will play better:
Pacers:
get a couple easy wins (makes artest better)
get brad back (duh)
benders ankle heals (injuries are bad)
tinsleys mom dies (yes i said pacers not tinsely. i know this is horrible and as i say this i hope against hope that his mom survives, but strictly talking basketball, a peaceful death will end distraction for tinsely)...(once again, strickly basketball, best of health to mrs. tinsley.)
reggie is taken outta the starting lineup (this is the most iffy-doesnt nessesarily have to happen)
Thomas sells his idea of ball movement again (players have stopped trusting one another, ball movement has thus stopped. Thomas needs to re sell his idea, cuz it was a good one (i dont know how he got it lol))
once these things happen i feel the pacers will become better. when will it happen? i predict no earlier than 8 games, no later than 16.
