It has to do with Stern conspiracy theories against the smaller market teams. Indy and San Antonio have been screwed by refs in the past 8 years. Remember the shot clock thing in '99 with SA and New York? LJ's 4 point play against Indy. The Bulls, Detroit, and Lakers. The Kings being screwed in LA, also, even though they probably have a larger market than Indy.

And what about Detroit sweeping LA? Not that Detroit is really a small market, but when compared to LA it certainly is.

I hated both teams too much back then to even watch the Finals, so I don't know.

Detroit is not small market, but let's pretend it is. My brother would call that "the exception that proves the rule." And a nugget for the conspiracy theorists: Detroit won because the league figured it was time Larry Brown actually got a ring. I'm not saying I believe it. I'm saying you can spin any situation to fit your needs.

You make good points. I just don't like believing in these conspiracy theories in sports, because I think adopting such beliefs is a defeatest attitude. In order to be the best, you gotta beat the best. Period.

How's about the Mike Jordan shove off for the j... to beat Utah
That's not anything to do with small or large markets though... Those are just part of the Jordan Rules

Re: Championship Reggie Miller????
That was barely a push off MJ had. You wanna see a shove? Check the way Reg punked MJ before dropping that game winner in 98. Or ask Greg Anthony.
