Question Is Pollard’s Surge Related To Peja’s Arrival???

Is Pollard’s Surge Related To Peja’s Arrival?

QUESTION
OF THE DAY
Conrad Brunner

Q. Scot Pollard's recent play has been inspiring and he's looking a lot like the player I had initially hoped we were getting when we traded Brad Miller. I noticed that the play seems to coincide with Peja's arrival. Did these two have a previous friendship, could it be Pollard feels more comfortable with Peja in the lineup, or is it merely a coincidence? (From Larry in Terre Haute, Ind).

A. They have a friendship that dates back to Stojakovic's first season in the NBA and Pollard's first with the Kings, 1998-99, and they were teammates for five seasons. Pollard has an engaging, offbeat personality. Stojakovic is much quieter. But the two meshed very well both on and off the court; in fact, Pollard regularly refers to himself as Peja's "translator" and will reprise that role in a special Valentine's Day chat on Pacers.com.

Pollard's surge in performance does coincide with Peja's arrival. He has 43 rebounds in those four games and has produced his three most productive games with the Pacers in that category (12, 14 and 16). But there are other factors involved.

For one, Pollard's health is as good as it's been in a couple of months. His problematic back is allowing him to play much more freely and aggressively. The team also has adopted a more free-flowing style that suits both players better. It's much closer to what both Pollard and Peja were used to in Sacramento and a departure from the Pacers' original rigid halfcourt approach.

In other words, the new Pacers look a lot more like the old Kings, and that has worked wonders for both Sacramento transplants – as well as the team as a whole. .

Yeah I'm loving the run 'n gun offense we're displaying....

Benefits alot of players, not just Peja and Pollard..

Re: Is Pollard’s Surge Related To Peja’s Arrival???

Yeah, I read this on Pacers.com yesterday. As mentioned in the article, Pollard hasn't had his usual back problems. That really helps, and I think that's why he's playing so much better.

You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus.
