Thumbs up Tim Thomas a Pacer???

Quote:
SITTING BULL: Tim Thomas could end up in either New Jersey or Indiana if the Chicago Bulls decide to release the former Knick. Thomas, who is in the final year of his contract, was given permission to leave the Bulls in November.

I would love it if he came here...

Huge cap relieve when the season ends, and he could help us out this year as well...

I used to go to High School with him, so it'll be real nice to see him in a Pacer jersey, even if it's just on a temp...

Go PaCeRs!!!!

Re: Tim Thomas a Pacer???

I think what they are saying is that Chicago will release him and we'll re-sign him to a one-year minimum contract. Well, us or New Jersey. No cap relief at all, really.

More depth is always nice. Why doesn't Indiana pull a New Jersey and try and get Al Harrington too?

Re: Tim Thomas a Pacer???

It would cost quite a bit... plus we'd be looking at re-signing Al, Peja and Fred Jones this summer...

I will be furious if we waste our money on Peja

Get Al and re-sign Freddie if he's cheap

We won't have the cash to sign Al... we can only re-sign Peja due to owning his Bird rights. He--and our team--has been awesome since arriving, too. Personally, I will be furious if we don't re-sign him.

Re: Tim Thomas a Pacer???

im sticking with my preseason pick that the pacers will beat the spurs in the finals. I highly recommend signing Tim Thomas and going to the D league to pick up Marcus Fizer (who should be back in shape now) http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfil...zer/index.html

he is dominating the league dumping in 20 points and 7 boards in approx. 33 minutes a night

Well...not now. I was hoping for a miracle deadline deal. But with JO already signed to a GINORMOUS contract, it's probably better to not have any other big deals on the books for now.

If we resign Peja, we're basically looking at going to war with JO/Peja/Granger/Harrison plus some collection of SJax/Tinsley/AJ/Sarunas/Foster for the next 3-4 years. I'm really not sure that's enough to beat a San Antonio team built around Duncan/Manu/Parker or the Detroit Five, once they re-sign Big Ben.

And with the young'ns of The Gift and The Hulk emerging, we've got a couple of cheap, productive guys for the next few years. And thankfully, SJax, Sarunas and (if ever healthy again) Tinsley all have reasonable contracts, so they are somewhat tradable commodities.

But I really don't think a team built on JO/Peja/SJax is gonna win a title. I'd much rather let Peja walk, clear some cap room by dealing Jackson, TinCup (if we can at this point) or Foster for some expiring contract to gear up for the amazing free agent class of '07 when Lebron, DWade, Chauncey, Bosh, Carmelo, Kirk Hinrich, TJ Ford, Josh Howard, Pietrus, Kaman, Boris Diaw (Dirk, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter and Rashad Lewis all could likely opt out of player options and be free agents too).

Raise your hand if you think JO/Peja can win a title.

Raise your hand if you think JO/Paul Pierce or JO/DWade could win a title.

Not sure about yall, but the the Eastern Conference Finals just doesn't do it for me anymore. Let Peja walk.
