Is Isiah Thomas the Worst Coach in the NBA?
If he isn't, he's close.
He blew this game for the Pacers - playing Jon Bender over Austin Croshere in the 4th quarter (might want to go with the guy who had 6 points and 5 rebounds in the 1st half and who has done it before in the playoffs over Mr. Bust). Croshere didn't play at all in the 2nd half while Bender and Harrington built a house from outside. His clock managment and usage of timeouts was pathetic - the Pacers didn't have a timeout available to draw up a play/get Reggie Miller back in the game for their final play, and Al Harrington would up taking a 3 (and predictably missing). Anyone else think Isiah is a joke? The Pacers should have won this series in 4-5, but with Isiah they'll be lucky to win at all!

Ranger C..ITA.
Compare what he did to how Frank Johnson managed his team. Even if the Suns had lost that game, FJ came off looking damn brilliant in comparison to Thomas.

I have to go along with you on this, as it was so obvious to me that Isiah needs to forget how he holds grudges for no reason and remember how he once played the game.

Isiah Thomas
I don't think he is a horrible coach although he has made some questionable decisions in the past. I think he's too caught up in restoring the Pistons' Bad Boy Era, that he forgets how to coach well at times

He definately made a mistake with the time outs. Harrington shooting the 3 wasn't the best choice, but he almost made it. Who woulda said Amare shoulda shot that 3?? and he sent it into OT.

Totally agree, RangerC
I know I got a huge kick out of all those idiots in December saying that Isiah was one of the early favorites for Coach of the Year. I always knew he would find a way to screw this thing up. No question, RangerC, he's the worst coach in the NBA. Hell, the guy's not even a coach, the guy was never even an ASSISTANT coach, he has NO COACHING EXPERIENCE! He set Toronto back 4-5 years when he was their GM, and the Pacers sure aren't looking like "The Future Beast of the East" or whatever these days!
The thing is--and I have been saying this for a while now--Donnie Walsh is too stubborn to admit that he made a HUUUUUUUGE mistake by picking Isiah over the obvious candidate (Rick Carlisle), he's too stubborn to fire Isiah. Pride can save you sometimes, but it can also be completely self-defeating sometimes, too. Isiah should've been fired at some point during his first or second season with this team. He's still here, and he'll still be here next year, too. Walsh also really blew it when he gave Austin Croshere that enormous contract. Walsh deserves a lot of the blame here, it's not necessarily Isiah's fault that he's an incompetent head coach and authority figure in general (most people have no idea what an incredibly petty person he is, an individual like this has no business in a leadership position, ANY leadership position), but it IS Donnie Walsh's fault for not recognizing how incompetent Isiah is and firing the guy. If only Jermaine O'Neal was smart enough to know which way the wind was blowing, he'd leave Indiana and sign with either Denver, Utah, or San Antonio. O'Neal will be wanting out of there this time next year, you watch, that Pacers team will just continue to implode.

Just because you live in Portland doesn't mean you know when a team is going to implode. Pacers will not implode next season.
Why the hell would JO want to sign with Denver or Utah over resigning with the Pacers who can offer him more money?

I think JO would much rather stay in the east and not have to deal with the wests PF's, Duncan, KG, Brand, Webber, etc.
