Can't believe we were playing zone in the final three minutes of a playoff game in a must-stop situation. Unforgivable

Looking for a way to make up for their depleted lineup, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle threw a wrinkle in the game plan when he followed the advice of assistant coach Kevin O'Neill and decided to play zone, something the team rarely did in the regular season.
They made the change because Carlisle wanted to avoid foul trouble and the Nets went into the game shooting 24 percent on 3-pointers.
"We probably played 30 possessions of zone, which is more than we played all year," Carlisle said. "It gave us a chance to hang in the game because fouls were becoming a factor early. With zone, a little bit of it is luck and you have to hope they miss some shots. We were fortunate that they did with a lot of those possessions."

And JO needs to stop talking to the press. Who says things like this the day of an elimination game. It's true and I wouldn't mind hearing it next week, but talking this junk to the media during the series really makes him sound like a little girl. Quit the whining.

"This year, I've seen this team wear down mentally for the first time since I've been a Pacer," said O'Neal, who led five players in double figures with 19 points. "When you go through situations we've gone through, it seems like there's no daylight. It's all gray roads. We can't get a break. We feel like we get stable and we go through situations where we lose Peja, we lose Jeff Foster. It's hard, but we're well-paid athletes. We have to figure out a way to try to keep digging out and giving ourselves a shot."
