Will a top ten pick really do wonders for this team?
Okay I may be alone in this but I truly believe that a top ten pick this year isn't going to provide the spark we need to get out of this horrible slump. This whole issue of falling to the top ten has been discussed on every Pacers message board ive frequented and theres one thing alot of fans fail to realize. The trade with Atlanta was a conditional first round pick. It works like this, in 2007 if we have a pick from 1-10, then the Hawks get our next year (2008) pick. That is also conditional, if we have the 1-8 pick in 2008 then they get our 2009 pick. If we get one of the top 5 picks in 2009 then they get the 2010 first round pick. It seems alot of fans are under the impression that if we fall we "get our pick back" from Atlanta which is definitely not the case. So fellow Pacers fans do you really feel that a top ten pick this year will provide the catalyst we need to reach the playoffs?

Re: Will a top ten pick really do wonders for this team?
I don't see it doing wonders for the team, but the reason I am so hopeful about this pick coming to the Pacers this year is that I see this is a very good draft especially for bigs. I'd credit it to the extra talent that was held over from last year. The pick will go to Atlanta some year, but I truly believe that a top 10 pick this year will be better than a top 10 pick next year. I can't believe I'm saying this as a Pacers fan, but please keep loosing.

Good point, really, 31andOnly. While this draft might be better, I'm very afraid of losing JO for either little or nothing in the off season, turning us into an even more terrible team. #3 in next year's draft should be better than 10 in this one, even if it is playing it safe. Win!

That is scary, I sure hope the Pacers don't get rid of JO.

the top 10 players picked in this years draft will make a big impact. So many big names in that top 10.

If they even declare, which a lot of them won't. Next year might have a great crop of current high-schoolers, plus whoever didn't declare this year. Maybe Durant will stay in school one more year to try to win Texas a championship.

He WILL ask for a trade. JO is as good as gone. It's sad, really. This team is going to be hurting for a while.

Re: Will a top ten pick really do wonders for this team?
while i don't believe the top 10 pick would totaly turn this franchise around, i do believe it would be a step in the right direction. and honestly, i believe that is all we can really hope for as of now. the way it works, the hawks will eventualy get our pick so, i'd rather they get next years pick as oppossed to this years pick since this draft is going to be as good as any for some time. and as far as durant staying- i give it about as good a chance of the pacers getting oden. he is as good as gone. if the pacers get a top 10 and both are still available, i would be torn between conley of osu and hibbert of georgetown.
