Pacers fans opinion on this trade?
This idea has been thrown around the Lakers forum and I wanted to know what you guys would think about it, considering how Jermaine O'Neal's departure seems imminent.
Lakers Trade:
Andrew Bynum
Jordan Farmar
Kwame Brown ($8M expiring)
First Round Draft Pick
Pacers Trade:
Jermaine O'Neal
Bynum is only 19 and is regarded as one of the best big man prospects in the game. He has shown a lot of growth this year and at times, has looked like a star already. Farmar is also a very promising young PG who seems to be destined for a long NBA career. Kwame Brown has been plagued with injuries, but when he has been healthy with the Lakers, he has played pretty well. He will not be a starting player on a great team, by any means. However, he would be a very good 6th man when at full strength, and his expiring would have a lot of trade value around the deadline. That first round pick could be this year's (#19) or a future pick.
I doubt the Lakers would include Odom in a deal for JO, and I know that they wouldn't deal Odom and Bynum for JO. Quite frankly, I don't even know if the Pacers would be interested in Odom.
Thoughts?
Since the Pacers are clearly rebuilding, I think the $8M+ off the cap, along with 2 very good looking young players and a first rounder would satisfy them. Obviously, it would depend on their other offers.

False, we have too many freaking prospects. If we take another "prospect" that hasn't "blossomed into his full potential" we are just gonna have a high school JV team. Most importantly we need to try to get a quality guard and a draft pick if we don't get our 3% chance of a lottery or some lower team getting the lottery.

I dont know whether the pacers take it or not but you have to assume something like this is going to be on the table over the off-season.

Re: Pacers fans opinion on this trade?
I would love this trade for many reasons. Mainly, we are getting rid of JO anyway it seems, and while we have many "prospects" we will be going through a re-building stage anyway, may as well get another young guy for the process, we will not compete for playoffs either way at this point. Secondly, its giving us a 1st round draft pick in a deep draft that we are going to need. Plus I like Jordan Farmer, solid PG that could potentially be a starter in near time. The goodside for the Lakers is that they will no longer be resting on one player. Bryant, Odom, O'Neal could easily mean a championship for them.
Downsides: Mainly, I HATE to see JO go. But we have put so many players around him, and its just not working at this point. This will also knock us off the scale completely for a year or 2. However, if it does knock us off the scale like I imagine it will, in 2 years Granger, Williams, Diagu, Bynum, plus 2 top picks could eventually make us a extreamly deep, athletic, team. One in which I imagine could compete for a championship.

I would do it for either team easily. Time for a rebuild in IND.

I like it, but Indy's not going to do it without getting someone in return who can play now: Odom. Farmar, the pick, and Bynum are all nice prospects, but Brown sucks, and Bird isn't about to throw away another season.

I'd be very satisfied with that trade...Diogu, Bynum, Granger, Williams and Farmar. Down the road...that could be one hell of a team.

Re: Pacers fans opinion on this trade?
I think people overestimate Bynum. Sure he is a prospect, but he really doesn't have great potential if you ask me. Diogu is a solid post player, but Bynum is too rugged especially since he was like the youngest player ever out of HS. Farmar is okay, but I think we really need to get a pass-first PG that doesn't shoot that much.

Re: Pacers fans opinion on this trade?
Out of all the rumoured trades going around about JO...i definately like this one the best. Pacers need prospects to look to the future and this deal 2...3 if you still consider Kwame Brown a prospect.
