Reggie Miller, the 42-year-old former Pacer who has been approached by the Celtics [team stats] to return from his two-year retirement, is putting himself through a tough workout routine to determine whether he can still withstand the NBA grind.
Quote:
“I have no idea what I’m going to do,” he said on Patrick’s ESPN radio show. “I’m working out twice a day. It would be irresponsible of me not to go full bore now to see what I can do. I’ll make a decision soon.
Quote:
“Six or seven days ago I started two-a-days, and I probably have 10 days left of that,” he said. “By the middle of September I should have an answer.”
Quote:
Miller said he was “shocked” when Danny Ainge initially called his former agent, Arn Tellem, in an attempt to lure the shooting guard out of retirement.
Quote:
“They’ve given me as much time as I need to shock my body and see where I am.”
Reggie will get tore up if he comes back. Watch. Remember this post. He will get injured.
Reggie Miller is made of steel. Here is Reggie Millers career injuries.
02-Nov-04: Hand injury, injured list.
04-Dec-04: Missed 16 games (hand injury).
Now I don't care if he's 80 years old... I disagree with you. Maybe he will have to miss a game here and there, but remember this post. He will not get seriously injured.

LoL yeah cuz he is a SG who NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER puts himself in a position to get hurt, i.e. going for a rebound or a steal. You can get away with that when your 22-30 but he is 42 now!!! He will be 43 in 4 days!!!
Out of shape, he is going to get injured. I wish your grandpa team luck though.

Don't forget the fractured orbital bone.

If he never put himself in position for injury before with the exception of the occasional drive, why would he be more susceptible to injury when all he has to do is stand at the perimeter and wait for the ball?

He's doing 2-a-day practices now and has the reputation as one of the most fit players in NBA history. He'd be fine playing 10-15 minutes standing on offense and guarding the opposition's worse wing player on defense.
He's coming back...I just know he is. He wouldn't go through all of this for nothing. Kevin Garnett said "I'm in get Reggie mode" and well I really do think he is going to get Reggie to join the Green.
Miller weighing options, not revealing thoughts on return to NBA
Quote:
INDIANAPOLIS -- Reggie Miller is still debating whether to make a comeback at age 42.
Miller
The NBA's career leader in 3-pointers tried to dodge reporters' questions about his possible return on Tuesday as he attended Peyton Manning's charity bowling tournament, saying he wanted to talk about the Super Bowl MVP and his event.
Quote:
"I'm in shape to bowl," Miller joked. "But I don't even know what I'm going to do."
Quote:
"I think I'll let my body and the people I've called and talked to, help me make that decision," he said. "It will all come together."
Quote:
But Miller has said it felt strange not to be part of an NBA team when training camps opened in 2005.
Quote:
Will that be enough to convince Miller to make a comeback attempt?
Miller isn't saying, but former Pacers teammate Rik Smits believes there's a 65 percent chance Miller suits up this season.
"I think if his body holds up after a month or so of practice to get ready for training camp, I think he can do it," Smits said. "Part of it's mind-set, part of it's physical. He'd be a guy who could do it and probably still be able to contribute."

Reggie Miller Will Remain Retired From NBA
In THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR, Bob Kravitz reports “Reggie Miller is not coming back after all. After two weeks of pushing his body to see how it might react to the punishment of an NBA season, Miller told The Star late Thursday he has decided he will not make a comeback with the Boston Celtics or anybody else. ‘That's it,'’ he said by telephone from his home in Malibu, Calif. ‘Physically, I know I could have done it. But mentally, when you do something like this, you've either got to be all in or all out. And I've decided I'm all out.”
