Thumbs up Surprised JO Hasen't Been Traded????....

With all the talk about Jermaine heading elsewhere this off-season, is anyone surprised and glad that he remains a Pacer??...I'm definetly not, I knew that what they were offering for us was not equal to his value, and even though JO might not be Tim Duncan, he is still a very valuable big man who can basically do it all night after night, and as dumb as Bird has been with some of his moves I think even he realizes that....

I was surprised, but now that I realized that we're aiming for the playoffs, him staying does make sense.

Re: Surprised JO Hasen't Been Traded????....

Keeping O'Neal would've made more sense if they had made other moves to strengthen the roster.

As it stands, they'll struggle to make the playoffs, and could really bottom out if O'Neal suffers through another injury prone season.

Since it's clear this squad isn't winning anything of significance anytime soon, i'd blow up the roster. Dump O'Neal for picks/young players similar to the Garnett deal, plead with anyone to take Murphy, Dunleavy and Tinsley off your hands for some expiring contracts, and then build around Granger, whoever u get for O'Neal, and the inevitable lottery picks that will follow.

IMO there's no point in the Pacers keeping JO b/c I don't think they'll sniff the playoffs with the roster as is. The problem is, what team that actually has the prospects Indy might be looking for will actually make that deal? JO's not a top tier player.

Re: Surprised JO Hasen't Been Traded????....

I think a deal with the Lakers for Bynum, Kwame, Crittenton/Farmar and filler would benefit both teams. I know Bird was apparently holding out for Odom as well, but if they're trading O'Neal and starting over he wouldn't really fit into their long-term plans.

Plus a Kobe, Odom, O'Neal trio could do some real damage.
