Pacers Is this our best defensive team ever?

We're definitely not 15-12 because of our offense, it's our defense that's keeping us afloat. We are near the top in every team defense stat in the league so with that said, is this the best defensive Pacers team ever?

Re: Is this our best defensive team ever?

If it isn't, its damn close. When JO and Artest were both in their primes in the early/mid 00's we were a hell of a defensive team too, but it was more bullying other teams around. We played pretty dirty.

The Finals run Pacers were good defensively as well, but I think this team is a better defensive squad, although we're not even close offensively.

Re: Is this our best defensive team ever?

yeah, i think they probably are. so many times i have seen them hold good offensive teams to well below their scoring averages. this is not a fluke- there is a reason.

Re: Is this our best defensive team ever?

One of the best.

We were pretty good in '04 too.

All time FG% allowed

Team/year/Opponents FG%

1. San Antonio Spurs 1998-99 .402
2. New York Knicks 1998-99 .403
3. San Antonio Spurs 2003-04 .409
4. Miami Heat 1998-99 .411
4. San Antonio Spurs 1997-98 .411
6. Houston Rockets 2003-04 .412
7. Indiana Pacers 2012-13 .413
7. Detroit Pistons 2003-04 .413

Pretty good crowd

Re: Is this our best defensive team ever?

Also worth noting is the crowd that's in that top 8. Everyone played in that '97-'05 era where most teams had stellar defenses and many teams had D League-level offenses. The Pacers are doing this in a time where efficient offense is much more prevalent than stingy defense.
