Well looks like I was beat to the punch on this scoop. This is a great move by the Pacers. Artest had an incredible game last night and I expect it to continue. I still think Bender should be dealt though, theres not enough PT for him and hes too good a player to let waste away on a bench, much like Jermaine was.

Foster has been re-signed, Bender has been re-signed, Artest has been re-signed. O'Neal will, of course, be re-signed. What does this mean? Like I said earlier this summer, this means that one of the Millers--either Reggie or Brad--is playing his last year for the Pacers. Unless Reggie agrees to a huge paycut--and I mean a HUGE paycut--Indiana just flat out cannot afford to re-sign both Millers. And Reggie WILL get some nice offers from some veteran playoff teams. Here are some possibilities:
1 New Jersey--The Nets need help with their perimeter shooting, and they know their window of opportunity to win it all is NOW, not LATER. Reggie would be a great fit here.
2 San Antonio--I'm assuming that Steve Smith is let go. Reggie would be AWESOME in the Spurs' inside-outside game.
3 Minnesota--The Timberwolves never get out of the first round because they don't have anybody who will make and take The Big Shot. Reggie obviously will make and take The Big Shot.
4 Detroit--If the Pistons decide to not bring back Richard Hamilton next year (a strong possibility), Reggie would step right in and start at SG for this veteran team. The Pistons could also use a guy like Reggie, somebody who will make and take The Big Shot in the postseason.
Keep in mind that the Pacers drafted Fred Jones this year. I mean, guys--the writing is on the wall!

i don't think that reggie will command a huge salary this coming year and should stay because retirement is another year away.

when tinsley and jones ask for new deals the pacers will already be in cap hell. big deals for foster, bender, artest, harrington and oneal needs the max and miller will ask for 6-8 million a year. have fun...

Guess what. Reggie has never said nything that would imply that he would go anywhere else. When he was on the David Letterman show he said he would never think of leaving this team. He said this is his home until he retires, then he'll be given a job in the Pacer front office. Reggie is the pacers. He has indicated he will do whatever it takes to win a ring here. He's notgoing anywhere. Sorry Sanantonio.

Roby, while those teams may offer Reggie a nice contract, unless Shaq, Kobe, Webber, Peja and Mike Bibby break their legs, none of those teams will win a ring until the 2004-2005 season at least.
Reggie has a pretty good chance at winning a rind in Indy if he waits another 3-4 years, anyway.
