Re: 2017 KVBL Awards
No way, I'm not even sure if he was his own TEAM'S MVP...Osyrus had a phenomenal year.

Re: 2017 KVBL Awards
That's just ridiculous. He put up 25.4 PPG (on a very nice .99 PPP), 3.3 RPG, 4.7 APG in only 32.2 minutes. Osyrus put up some nice stats and everything, but DRose at the SG completely drove the team the entire season.

In the context of shear impact on the game I think the two were very comparable (great). And in terms of it being "ridiculous", the sim actually has Osyrus ranked 4th in MVP league-wide.

Re: 2017 KVBL Awards
Without Rose, Osyrus would never in a million years be that efficient though.

Last year Rose shot 42.9% from the field and turned it over 3.3 times per game. This year he shot 45.4% from the field and turned it over 2.17 times per game. So I think it's highly misleading and inaccurate to use Rose as a crutch for Mr. Osyrus having a big year.

Re: 2017 KVBL Awards
Junarvo's great, but his assist rating isn't insanely high. I'll admit that Junarvo helped the Rockets a whole lot, but that's still only because he's being paired with Rose, who has an equally high assist rating.
You think Osyrus would be putting the same numbers on higher percentages without Rose on the team? Just by relying on Junarvo's above average assist rating of 64? If things were as simple as percentages, Landry Fields, Allan Osyrus and even Josh Childress would be considered superstars. Every team needs a high volume scorer to be successful. Rose's percentages may not be pretty, but he takes the attention away from everyone else on the team and makes them more efficient. I'll quit the league and never post on the site again if Osyrus can ever put up 25 PPG in 32 minutes. I guess we're both right in the sense that without either one of these guys the Rockets wouldn't be nearly as good. Osyrus is definitely one of the best second options in the league with his efficiency on offense and low foul rate but I would never pick him over Rose in any kind of situation though (trade, fantasy draft, whatever).

Rockets had one of the best defenses in the league this year, giving up only 93.8 PPG as a unit. Osyrus was far and away their best defensive player, and he was the clear cut number two option on offense. Everybody looks at numbers differently, and I'm not even saying Osyrus had a better season than Rose necessarily. I brought this up because omer said Derrick Rose was the real MVP, and that statement was silly to me for a handful of reasons.

Re: 2017 KVBL Awards
Frankly, my depth chart was kind of ****ing Rose throughout. I was curious to see the kind of damage he could do if he played ~38 MPG. So if you'll notice, I switched up his depth chart for the last 8 games, where he dropped 30.5 a night on good to great percentages. Eric Maynor and Junarvo both let Rose do his thing. The problem is my team actually did worse because allowed for ten less minute of PT for my bigs. I'm gonna have to do some analysis before I decide on a playoff depth chart.
I drafted Maynor to play Junarvo's role actually, I just never got around to putting him in the depth chart that way. I put Rose at SG because back he's a lot like Kobe used to be. And Junarvo and Maynor are great sidekicks for either. Brian, you've noticed that Junarvo has a 64 ast rating, which is good, but his ball handling is set to +2 and Rose is at -2. In effect, Junarvo is forced to handle the ball the majority of the time and it shows in his 8+ assists per game and his efficiency is on display with a 4 to 1 turnover ratio. Osyrus actually had a slightly below average year for his KVBL career, particularly his 3FG%. The key to winning for this team was the culmination of a lot of moving parts. Rose is the catalyst despite what the sim's MVP rating says, but Osyrus is really the glue. Junarvo distributes and my quorum of bigs shoot efficiently, play defense, block shots, steal the ball but perhaps most importantly none of them really turns it over. One of the newest additions to my strategy is the 3 pt shot. Ryan Anderson deserves a lot of love and could see increased minutes in the playoffs.
