Restricted Free Agents

Unrestricted Free Agents

Signing players: Make an offer and it will be fed into the sim, where all FA decisions will be made. If you are attempting to re-sign your own players, the process is no different - the only thing that might change is that you may have Bird rights whereas other teams do not.

The salary cap is $66 million. If you aren't listed below as having cap space, you are only able to offer the Mid-Level Exception and/or Bi-Annual Exception. The MLE for this offseason is set at $6.70 million.

MLE Contracts: Maximum of 5 years. 8% max raise. Can be split between players.

10+ Years experience, first year: 21.80 M with 10.5% raises (6 years, Bird rights) or 8% raises, 5 years

Bi-Annual Exception: $2.90 million, 2 years. 8% raises. Can't be used next year if used this year. Can be split between players.

Any team may offer the minimum to any player for 1 or 2 years.

Raises are not compounded. Just keep that in mind, as I'd rather not have to fix your offer(s) if I can avoid it. You may round up to the nearest ten thousand dollar mark.

The first round of free agency will consist solely of restricted free agents. Teams will submit their offers through PM. The following is a list of teams' money available; teams not listed only have the MLE/Bi-annual to offer (if not suffering cap penalties):

If the player is coming off the fourth year of his rookie scale contract, then in addition to a qualifying offer, his team can also submit a maximum qualifying offer. A maximum qualifying offer is for six seasons at the maximum salary with 10.5% annual raises. It can contain no options, ETOs or bonuses of any kind, and must be fully guaranteed. When a team submits a maximum qualifying offer (in essence "stepping up" with a maximum contract offer before the player even hits the market), it places a more stringent requirement on other teams' offer sheets (see below).

When another team wants to sign a restricted free agent, it signs the player to an offer sheet, the principal terms of which the original team is given seven days to match. The offer sheet must be for at least two seasons (not including option years). If the player's prior team also submitted a maximum qualifying offer, then the offer sheet must be for at least three seasons (not including option years). If the player's original team exercises its right of first refusal by matching the principal terms of the offer sheet, the player is then under contract to his original team. If the player's original team does not exercise its right of first refusal within seven days, the offer sheet becomes an official contract with the new team.

A reminder because so many teams have cap space this year:

- You can't use your cap space to sign other teams' free agents and THEN use Bird rights to re-sign your own players

- Example: The Suns can't sign Tony Spence and Tyrone Williams to max deals AND re-sign Travere Bernard

I'll be working on the UFA sheet from now through whenever I finish it, so it'll be available likely before people get up again in the morning.

I have a feeling that teams with good RFAs are going to be hurting because of it. Cashman, Xerxes, and possibly Wagner could all get max offer sheets from people if they don't choose to sign the offer from their current team instead.

Added the UFA link to the first post. If you have questions regarding cap rules, how much room you have under the hard cap, or anything at all, ask me. Positional eligibility can be found in the stickied thread.

Edit: I might have missed some small guys here and there, but Bird rights guys should be bolded. If you think there's a player on your team that you should have Bird rights to and it's not there, let me know. Chances are it's irrelevant with the low level guys, but still worth fixing.

One of the best RFA classes I can remember. I can see a lot of max deals offered with no team options to make it harder for the matching team. Will be interesting to see what happens w matching.

I'll tell you how much to offer and we can have prearranged deal of what you get back from me (trade would go through after sim 2) if you get a target player I have in mind.
