Draft Team Check In - Basketball Forum : Professional and College Basketball Forums

With basically the head of the team leaving, and just about everyone else who's contributed prospects having either been late or missing (at least) a year entirely (I think Tim's the only one who's been really good about it), I figure it's a good time to discuss a few things.

Last few years it's been Diss, Zei, Tim, BJ, and K4L working with me, but Diss is stopping and I don't think K4L made any last year. If anyone else wants to stop making them, or if anyone else wants to start making them, let me know. If we get a lot of volunteers, we could even split into two groups and have them take different years to speed up the process.

Also, we could probably use a coordinator, someone to tell people about how many to make, about how good they should be, but mostly to set a schedule/deadlines to hopefully speed things up. Checks in with everyone, collects all the previews and writeups. I'll help out whoever wants to do it, and if nobody wants to I'll do it, but I'm not exactly much of a motivator.

And if anyone has any suggestions this would be the place for them, whether it's advice, requests, or even new features you want to see. For example, I'd been thinking about starting a class writeup every year. Probably wouldn't be too long, it would go over things like who the top prospects are, who some sleepers might be, maybe potential busts, and an overall feel of the strongest/weakest positions, that type of thing. We could also maybe work on making some prospects known while they're still in college like K4L started to do before. Any ideas or feedback really would be appreciated.

This might seem a little unorthodox since I'm not in the league, but I wouldn't mind a little creative writing exercise. Someone would need to explain to me how exactly the write-ups get converted into ratings, though. It might be a way for me to embrace the imaginary players aspect of the league.

This is actually ideal since you don't own a team.

I think this is a pretty great idea, an outside perspective might be a good thing to throw into the mix...and adding RWE as a GM down the line would be a major bonus to the league too.

I haven't been in the rookie mix for a few drafts now, but I was actually considering taking over Diss' spot as lead of the draft team if it was open. Talked to Prince about helping out with rookies as well, though I never followed through with it with life getting a bit busy. Regardless, I'll be assisting with the rookies in whatever capacity going forward.

I have spoken at length with KJ and Vuchato on this, and I think it sounds like fun. I need someone to give me an idea where you guys are in the schedule at the moment so I can approximate times and assign tasks.

KJ is the schedulinator around here, he knows when things will be popping off. We have only just started a season and KJ has produced the upcoming draft class, so you'd be working on the one after that. So the best place to begin would be to look over the rookies coming in this year and try and build something different for the next year.

Yeah, a good estimate on when the next batch should be ready to go would be the second week of December or so.

That should give me time to really fine-tune the write-ups on that batch.

Great. I guess it'd actually be more like the middle of the first week of December, but still plenty of time. Seasons (plus offseason) are typically about a month or so.
