Breaking news out of OKC: Josh Rhett's offer sheet from the Suns was apparently more than just a money matter.

via ESPNews: When the Suns penned Josh Rhett to its lofty offer sheet without any team options, apparently PHX was indeed Rhett's chosen destination. While Rhett's agent has pointed to OKCs offer being more of an issue, apparently Rhett really wanted to play in Phoenix. Sources close to the situation say Rhett welcomed the opportunity to be a featured piece in their rebuild process ether than plying second fiddle, let alone 3rd to the likes of Alistair Maynard and newly acquired PF Ricky Briscoe. Being a max player comes with expectations and Rhett welcomed that opportunity from PHX. Sources say shortly after OKC matched on Rhett, members from Rhett's camp and the Suns organization approached OKC about a sign n trade. The two teams initially had the groundwork for a dal but details couldn't be hammered out before UFA. The sign n trade would've cleared a nice chunk off of OKCs cap. The deal was apparently then put on the back burner but was again recently revived by PHX as the Suns signed some attractive pieces to OKC as well as could now offer matching expiring contracts, giving OKC future flexibility. It's indeed interesting to see OKC move a young player headed into his prime, but the guaranteed money and potential for landing assets in the deal seems to be too much for OKC to pass on. Sources say the deal is about 99% complete but due to league rules the deal can't be completed for two months. Quite an interesting scenario as Rhett and the other unnamed pieces from each team will take the court for their respective teams knowing they'll be in a different uni in mere months. The fact remains if Rhett truly wanted out and OKC is getting adequate compensation for Rhett's talent, it's a win/win for everyone.
