KVBL Clipper Blogger
Q&A With New Clipper GM MemphisX
Clipper Blogger: After your success in Memphis, what happened in Orlando? MemphisX: Well, it all started during the dispersal draft. We tried to build around Rajon Rondo and we didn't bring in the right parts to make it work long term. Rondo did his part but the rest of the squad kind of aged around him to fast. CB: Is it true you lost a power struggle with Coach David Blatt? X: Well, the new GM is Omer. Put two and two together. CB: Why all the trades? X: Impatience. I made quite a few mistakes but thankfully in the KVBL there is always another chance to right your wrongs. CB: How do you feel working for Sterling and being the other LA team? X: I look at working for Mr. Sterling as a unique opportunity. I know the Clipper fans were excited when Jiggles took over and really I am looking to build on the successful foundation that was laid. CB: What is going to be your draft strategy? X: Ha, well we are going to let the draft come to us. Unlike last time, we won't be locked into any specific strategy. Like all KVBL GMs, we value dynamic players. So we will look to bring in the most dynamic players available. CB: Will you stay at 5? X: Hard to tell right now. A couple of GMs are trying to get the pick but have cold feet. If they wait, an unexpected player might fall and the price will definitely go up. CB: You never answered the question about being the other LA team? X: The Lakers and Clippers have the same amount of KVBL Championships. We plan on winning the hearts and minds of LA's basketball fans. This is an open invitation to Jack to come see some exciting basketball. CB: Thanks for the sit down. We are looking forward to talking to you after the draft. X: Thank you and I can't wait to see your Clipper draft evaluation.

Re: KVBL Clipper Blogger
2019 Clipper Training Camp Notes
![]() - Gone Baby Gone: 2nd Round picks Craig Leibowitz and Jarrett Pham were cut three days into training camp and given an opportunity to latch on with another KVBL team if possible. - 15th Man: With the Clippers having 14 guaranteed contracts on the books, they are having open "fan" tryouts for the coveted 15th Man position. You must have had some college basketball experience and there are currently two undisclosed finalist for the position which will come with a guaranteed minimum one year KVBL salary. - Out with the old: The Russell Westbrook era has finally ended in LA. Andre Cannon will be given the keys to the offense fulltime and will not have to look over his shoulder. There will be a lot of pressure on Cannnon to to perform up to the abilities of Westbrook. - In with the old? The Clippers welcome back fan favorite Blake Griffin into the fold along with the remaining 4 years and $80 million he got in free agency. Griffin will look to reestablish himself as an All KVBL level talent after taking a back seat to Aeneas Baily in OKC last season. - Training camp battle(1): #3 pick Mitch Hastings vs. Benedict Brown. Brown has come into camp with an improved midrange game but has still been erratic behind the arc. He has shown tremendous athleticism but is often out of position on defense. Hastings has been the opposite. Hastings might already have the best jumper in the KVBL and can hit them in bunches. He is also a much more disciplined defender. - Training camp battle(2): The Bigs. The Clippers were glad to have Lamar Holt not sign an offer sheet but Holt will find the Clipper frontcourt stacked even more than last year with lottery pick Rich Knight added to the roster and former Clipper griffin back in town. Veteran DeJuan Blair was shopped but remains. Larsson has voiced his desire to finally play the center position this season which will likely leave some Clipper big men disgruntled. Look for Knight to spend most of the season in the D-League and Griffin might be used more on the perimeter. - Trade winds: The Clippers are actively looking to add another wing but sources close to MemphisX insist that nothing is in the works and they will likely not be very active prior to the start of the season. Unless someone comes to them with a good offer, they will be content with their current roster being good enough to get them back to the playoffs.

Re: KVBL Clipper Blogger
Really diggin your new roster. Quirky starting lineup, but definitely full of mismatches. Grubbs/Hastings/Brown/Rich Knight/Biff are all great bench players. We must have similar taste in players...I created Cannon, Grubbs, Haywood, and Rich Knight and I've been strongly attached to Blake and Irujo before. Good stuff

Re: KVBL Clipper Blogger
The rotation in his sig has Hastings as a bench player, but even so. If he's starting Hastings at SG that means Jens is playing one of those big man spots, so we're either talking about Blair or Irujo moving to the bench. My point was that he's got a stacked bench, and both of those two would be great off of any bench.

Re: KVBL Clipper Blogger
2027 KVBL & Los Angeles Clippers Preview
The Clippers are coming off of their most successful season in the KVBL. After getting to the 2027 KVBL Finals, they saw their title hopes destroyed by the one man wrecking crew named Caramel Love. It was an eye opening experience for Clipper President MemphisX. According to sources close to the team, he was visibly upset for weeks after the series ended and decided he would forgo the traditional team he had built and focus his energy on the post-Caramel KVBL. The Clippers tried desperately to reacquire their draft picks that were dealt in an attempt to sneak a championship but found the asking price was to high. They just did not value the 2027 draft as much as some of the owners of lottery picks did and decided to just reload on the fly while trying to remain competitive. One of the critical musts for the Clippers was to get rid of Ricky Briscoe's contract to keep from being crippled with a declining veteran on a bad deal. Briscoe was dealt to Oklahoma City for future Hall of Famer Dwight Howard and a future 1st rounder. The Clippers were very happy when Dwight Howard decided to not retire and suit up for the Clippers in what could be his last campaign. He came back in great shape and "Gramps" hs been a great influence on the summer workouts of Frank "Da Tank" Daniels. Daniels came back ready to expand his role with the trade of Robert Goodhue. Goodhue was dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers for two lottery picks, Sky Johnson and the athletic phenom D.J. Alexander. Alexander comes in with much hype and is already a fan favorite as the future of the Clippers. All summer he has been popping up on TMZ dating the hottest Hollywood starlets and is rumored to be reading plenty of scripts and trying to start an acting career. I Love LA. His role this year seems to be that of super 6th man as the Clippers bring back their entire perimeter rotation intact. Most think he will eventually suplant Anibal Levrino at PG but he has to get through veteran John Wall just to back up Levrino. Wall should be a much steadier option to the reckless Alexander for the second unit and allow D.J. to do what he does best...score. The 2027 KVBL draft brought in bigs Talib Kasim and Hunter Hawkins. Although selcted in the lottery neither are expected to move past their roles of backup bigs. Hawkins tenacity on the boards during the summer league and training camp has earned him a spot in the rotation as Kasim has struggled with the transition from Real Madrid to the KVBL. Kasim was seen as a reach in the draft but was scouted personally by the Clipper's President son MemphisX Jr. who was promoted to VP of Basketball Operations and was the "brains" behind the Goodhue trade. His future as a KVBL executive will becemented by his decision to break up a KVBL finalist on the eve of Caramel Love going to free agency. Also surviving the roster purge were Cheikh Senghor and Alex Beiting, the aggressive wing defenders who will be counted on for more offense with the departues of Briscoe and Goodhue. Having Alexander off the bench should help them with that task though. The Clippers also signed veteran Roger Martin in an effort to increase bench scoring. As far as projections go, we definitely see a fall back to the pack in the West. I am hoping for a return to the playoffs but in the West, that can be iffy. The Clippers are hoping for 45 wins but I see them more around the .500 mark.
