How aren't injuries an excuse? That's just what coaches say to keep everybody else focused on the game, but if you're missing one of your best players your probability of winning decreases. That's not an excuse, that's called logic.

It's pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that those injuries were legitimate reasons for his team not performing 100%. I was just trying to stir the pot a little bit, make things more exciting.

I'll give you my example:

Couple years ago in the playoffs, I played G7 with Shawn Burroughs (street mid-year FA) against Walker Gilchrist. I lost that game big. I don't blame injuries, I blame a bad DC. Higgins/Nielsen had both been out, but that's my fault, not of anyone else.

This is nothing but tired rhetoric. It's not that losing is OK, it's that it's explainable.

Having a backup who can produce close to the level of one of your starters is a luxury, not the norm. Anything can happen game to game, which is why I said your probability of winning goes down. Of course there's still a chance you win the game, but it's a pretty transparent theory that the less talent you have on the court the less likely you are to win.
