Post Heat Blogger

Where are the Heat headed next?

After taking their 1st championship in KVBL history , where are owner Ranan Katz (he bought full control over the Heat this year) , GM Smath and coach Obradovic plan on taking the Heat next?

The 2024-2025 year will not be forgotten in Miami , Obradvoic's team was able to do what no one did before in South Beach , win a KVBL title. Spirits are rising again in Miami , season tickets are beeing bought out , theres just so much excitement around the Heat everywhere in Flroida , its all the locals ever talk about if you sit with them for lunch.
Can the Heat team deliver with so many expections? Im still not sure , this team might end up a 1 time champ , or it might leave a legacy behind , time will tell.

Is Obradovic the right man for the job?

After the Heat franchise gave a chance to Israeli coach David Blatt wich ended up in failure year after year in playoffs time , eyebrows were raised when Heat apointed a non-American coach again , this time Željko Obradović (Serbian coach that came stright from euroleague elite Panathinaikos Athens).
After a quick one and half years rebuild wich during that time fans were asked to be patient and promised a good team will be built in Miami by GM Smath , fans began to lose hope (Jimmey Smith head of the Yellow Lion, one of the main Heat fan groups said back then - "We'r begining to think our GM and our coach don't even know what they are doing , they traded our franchise PG , we don't think he was the problem").
Mr.Smith was refering ofcorse to Heat Capitan Gerrod Clifton , wich was traded 2 years ago to the Brooklyn Nets for Turkish Center Mancin Tulker and two future 1st rounders. Later on coach Obradovic had a blow out with the same Mancin Tulker and threw him to the bench, eyebrows were raised once again. Was GM Smath admiting the fans were right by getting Clifton back from the same Brooklyn Nets only one and a half years later? I think Smath never intended to bring Clifton back but the price was right , and it payed off! the fans were right all along , Blatt was the problem , his D-minded Heat was good and agressive , but it wasn't fun basketball to watch and the team always strugled on the offensive side.
Obradovic brought something new to South Beach , the master of pick and role worked day and night with PG Chris Love and PF Skyler McLean to master the art of pick and role. we certainly saw the great chemistry between those two in the finals last year against the Sonics , where Love had several nice looking assits to leave McLean with an easy basket or a dunk.
Obradovic proved he can work with young players and make them develop the way the franchise needs them to , hes a man of hard work and stricness , the players seem to respect him deeply , even abit afried of him I would say.

End of an era in Miami?

The ones who are gone , the ones who grow , the hard competetion and the future

This past year was a rollercoster ride for the Heat franchise , right after the All-Star break the team lost Lebron James to a cruel injury , many didn't think he could come back from that type of an injury espically at his mature age. Heat managment including Obradovic went into panic , Obradovic demanded a trade for a wing player to step into James's big shoes. The season went on and the Heat adjusted to a new style of play , Clifton was pulled into the starting SG role while the young Chris Love was upgraded to the team's 1st PG. Alot of fans think that James Injury was the best thing that ever happend to the Heat , Love and Xavier shined and showed they could lead a franchise in bad times , along with McLean the Heat seem to have a solid base core for the next few years. (Just a few days ago Heat have realsed Lebron James).
Next year dynamics of the east is gona be very intersting , will the Hawks Heat Celtics and Bullets continue to dominate throw regular season like the past 2 years? or will the Bulls who got to the ECF last year prove they are a massive force to be recognize with , and destory the natural order in the east. What about other teams ? The Magic , The Knicks , The Bucks are all talented teams.
It seems to me the Heat are building for the future , Im not sure they will be able to win it all again with other elite teams improving their sqauds , Heat will have to do some trading if they want to beat those teams.

Can the Spainyard be the next big thing in South Beach and live up to the comparison?

The Spanish Hope

Two years ago the Miami Heat franchise drafted promising PG Takashi Satou , Satou was amazing at college but sooner or later GM Smath decided he is not a good fit with the Heat team , "He just takes too many shots , we can't contain him" Obradovic said in the past. Not alot after the Obradovic snap in the media Satou requsted a move to a team that will give him a chance to start , Smath made it happen , trading Satou to the Bucks getting back mainly a lotto 1st rounder back.
One year later and the Heat get the 8th pick from that trade and draft another PG! Spanish hope Sergio Salvadores this time , who comes into the league with his twin brother Rafa wich plays PF/C. Heat managment are hoping the fact he has his brother playing in the KVBL also , will help him make the transition from europ to the KVBL faster. Sergio was called the Shy Baron Davis many times before , his game style reminds alot of pepole young Baron Davis but his personality is very very different , Sergio is more of a shy and quiet young man , he takes orders and criticism very good , so that makes all of us hope Obradovic will turn him into a real Baron Davis.

Heat 2028 Preview:

So after alot of movment in the 2027 FA I decided to look at our Heat situtation in the league once again.
FA this year so alot of big changes , Including KVBL super stars Caramel Love Tony Spence and Travere Bernard changing homes.
What did the Heat do you ask? pretty much nothing , The Miami Heat will be playing the exact same team as last year.

Love to make major power shifts out East?

A while ago Caramel Love announced he will be leaving the Atlanta Hawks and will be joining the New York Nicks , I cought Miami favorit and Caramel's brother , Chris Love to see what he thinks about the power move.
Me: Welcome Chris its nice to have you around , I'll get right to bussines , why do think your brother left such a good franchise he won 3 champs with , for a franchise that haven't been in the top for years.
Chris: "Well , thats just it! Caramel felt like he needed a new challange , putting a lossing franchise on the KVBL map is one of the biggest challanges he could think of".
Me: Ok , now what do think about the East now ? after all the moves.
Chris: "Well as I see it , Hawks still have a nice team but they are not an elite team anymore , Knicks look alot better now ofcorse , I think we'll see the Bulls , Heat , Bucks and the Knicks batteling for the top of the east , along with the Hawks , 76ers , Raptors and the Sharks who gona put up a comptetive sqaud as well".
Me: Alrighty thank you for the analysis , last question Chris , Think you ever gona leave Miami like your brother?
Chris: "Never! I love it in South Beach , the weather is great the pepole are great , the girls , food , night life , everything is just perfect!".
Me: haha , alright Chris good to hear! and thank you again.
Chris: "peace".

Ok Moving on to our Heat team , last time I wrote about the Heat we were still starting Clifton , well! Clifton has been traded (goodbye legend , we will miss you) , we now have a new franchise PG! Sergio Jose Salvadores , The Spanish hope became money last season , put up a great season of 17 PPG , 7.4 APG along with 4.5 RPG in his first starting season , alot of hope to our franchise.

The Heart Break

Last year playoffs were just heart breaking to the Heat franchise and to young PG SJS who couldn't get it going against the dominiating Hawks , if you missed the series... it was one for the books! the Heat allready led 3-2 in the series and were looking to close at home but failed wich doomed them to game 7 @ Atlanta wich Heat dominiated leading untill the last mininute of the game only to lose in over time. Im not sure how the Heat players are gona recover from that but I hope they have a short memory! because with Love switching teams , that might be their big shot to possibly finish 1st in the east and enjoy HC , somehting they did not have last year.

The Break Throw:

I'll end this with an optemstic note , Last year we saw one of the Heat drafted players make a major break throw! scoring 16 PPG (in 25 miniutes off the bench) on amazing precentges , SG Kendall Langston won KVBL 6th man of the year award last year , Hopefully Kendall can keep up his great proformence to be the extra asset off the bench the Heat needs. I see the Heat competing again , but I think they need to make a trade , their front court is lacking right now.

Re: Heat Blogger

The Serbian Fox does it again!

Yes Yes! Obradovic does it again! bringing a 2nd championship to Miami , lately fans started to doubt the old Serbian and claimed the championship he took with the Heat a few years ago was just a 1 time thing with a high skilled team and help from Verten LBJ fans say anyone could have won it , but Obradovic proved since that championship that he can make the Heat very competetive every year , after an apperence in last year ECF that ended with a game 7 lose to the Celtics , Obradovic and the Heat come back this year to win it all! an impresive preformence in the playoffs left no doubt the Heat were dominiating! droping only 1 game in every series throw the finals , now the Heat fans are comparing Obradvoic to former HoF coach Greg Popovic ("they have the same style of coaching" 1 fan said).

The X-Factors

The Main thing that led to the Heat championship this year is SF Malcolm Xavier (aka X) , X worked hard last summer with the Heat trainers to improve his game and it seem to have helped alot! X took his game to the next level this year establshing himself as one of the best players in the league , "He stepped up this year espically on offence and finishing plays" said one of the Heat trainers , after winning the playoffs MVP title theres no more questions left , X is as good as they come he finished this year avarging 25 PPG on great efficeny. When Malcolm Xavier was 1st picked by the Pistons in the KVBL draft he was compared to former star Lamar Odom , but it turns out he is even better.
The 2nd string in this year championship is PG Sergio Jose Salvadores , after future HoF and Miami favorit and Capitan Gerrod Clifton was traded , fans doubted SJ's ability to fill in those big shoes , but the young spainyard proved everybody worng grabbing his first championship and playing great basketball throw the regular season and the playoffs , SJ finished this year playoffs avarging 8 ast's per game , without a doubt a top passer in the KVBL league who makes his team mates alot better.

The Silent Leader

With all the top offensive guns in the Heat lineup , 1 player is always forgaten , but not by me! Chris Love aka "The Bulldog"
is the ultimate hard worker on defence , you can say he was the defensive anchor and leader of the Miami Heat , hes the silent leader type , the one who works hard on defense and will make the clutch 3 pointers when needed too , we saw that in the finals! Love was just hot in the championship game , proving he's deffently one of the Heat leaders. "He's so under-rated" said GM Smath in the past , "He's our defensive glue guy" said coach Obradvoic , the Heat managment seem pretty happy with the defensive PG/SG.

1 More Year?

The Heat managment hope that D12 has more hunger in him! hunger for winning! Howard has 2 years left on his contract and the Heat managment have the full intension on keeping their end of the deal , they made it clear they want Dwight to stay , the rest is up to him! at age 43 Dwight might choose to retire and rest after getting 4 KVBL championships , then again he might decide to honor the contract wit the Heat and try to win some more in the next 1 or 2 years , time will tell. But my sources tell me the Heat managemnt are trying everything in the book to keep Dwight for 1 more year , including some weird offers.

Is 3rd time a charm ?

Now after the championship parties and celebrations (and yes some hangovers as well) , Heat should start getting ready for next season , Heat have reached a big cross road in their path , Dwight could retire , and alot of other players have team options in their contract , including Webb Langston Timmons Bynum McLean and Love , how will the Heat play this out ? rebuild ? maybe trade some? or maybe just go all in 1 more time and try their luck at a 3rd championship ? whatever decsion GM Smath makes its not gona be an easy one , but I'v heard the Heat fans are demanding wins. Time will tell how this all works out.

Re: Heat Blogger

The day After

After last years blogs where the Heat have been secussfull, now comes the "day after". For the first time in the last I can't remmber ? Heat haven't made the playoffs. Fans are still angry at the Chris Love shipping away trade, but new hopes rise in Miami with the team situation, the team has a lotto pick in the draft and cap space and make some noise in the free agency market this year.

End of an era

Chris love was the only start , Heat have traded away core players Darren Webb and Edd Timmons, Skyler Mclean is expiring and no one knows if he's gona be extended, this is deff an end of an era in Miami! only 1 player will remain from the core who won those 2 champs , and thats Malcolm X.

The New Hope

After the bad year Miami had , they decided to trade for SF/PF/C Kendall Hightower, he seems to be a great player and maybe with him the team can be in the playoffs run again next year , I guss alot of it is based on how the team does in offseason with their assets of a pick and cap space. Can Obradovic do it again? we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Heat Blogger

Today in Heat Blogger we sit to a conversation with Miami Heat GM himself , Mr.Smath , and break it all down! also joining us is Miami Heat young latvian center, Mr. Raivis Hauks.

It is truly a new era is South Beach, as most of the last 2 championship pieces were either traded or let go, PG Sergio Jose Salvadores was traded to the Bullets, 2 time Heat champion Skyler Mclean was let go, the team totally looks different now, led by super star PG Mikel Opoku with good supporting cast such as newly acquired Scotty Clay, 12th pick in the 2031 draft Raivis Hauks, verten Eddie Green and Sam node and of course Heat vet legend Malcolm Xavier. 2 seasons ago the Heat did not have much success as they missed the playoffs by an inch (a tiebreak) and a lot of bad talk was going on in the fans lines, they didn't like where they team was going, but some how GM Smath's moves and Coach Obradovic leadership led the Heat to a fantastic season in 2033, as the team turned it around in the regular season after a rocky start , ended up at the 5th seed of a hard eastern conf and managed to go all the way throw the ECF where they were finally beaten in game 7 against the feisty champions Bucks. Alot of hope for the future comes with the Heat's 2031 KVBL draft pick , young Center Raivis Hauks and we got him right here!

Me: Raivis, first of all how are you doing?
Raivis: "Doing great Jeff! Its a dream come true for me to finally play in the KVBL!"

Me: You had a very good season as a rookie, you got voted in the top 5 rookies this season and to the best rookie center in the league for the year 2033, did you expect this coming from Europe with different style of basketball or it was a surprise to you?

Raivis: "Well, a basketball player always have to have high self confidence and got to keep working hard! It was my dream to play in the KVBL and I think I proved I belong here. I think a lot of credit should go to my team mates as well, they are all fantastic guys to work with".

Me: Great Answer! the season didn't start easy for you guys though, you lost a lot of games, team didn't seem to click, some fans were calling you "bumvis" , some fans said the Heat are done, "RIP", how did you guys turn it around with so much pressure on winning every single game?

Raivis: "Well, I can only speak about myself, I kept working hard despite the criticism I didn't take it to the heart, I just kept working hard.

Smath: "The rest of it I think could answer for you Jeff as Raivis said he can only speak about him self. First of all I think our trade with the Bullets really helped us click, Sergio might be the better overall player and I know a lot of fans were mad about the decision to ship our franchise PG for the second time, but just like last time it seem to work out! Clay is a good fit in our defensive lineup, that is the style of basketball I like."

Me: Yes that trade was debated about, for some time in the KVBL community, I think it was a good move move on your part for sure. Lets move on! you had a very good season in 2033 , what will 2034 bring?

Smath: Well Jeff, in 2034 U'll see pretty much the same thing in the American Airlines Arena, a feisty defensive team assembled by the same core of talent, with a few little additions in newly drafted rookies, 12th pick PF Lorenzo Stewart and the 21 pick SF Scott Rutherford along with maybe a player or two in free agency as we'r always working hard in the off season convincing good vets to join our project.

Me: Sounds great! I'm looking forward to it , but is that enough to take down the 2 time champions the Milwaukee Bucks? They seem to be the new dominate force of the east like the Hawks Heat and Celtics were before, Also there are new powers out west do you see it as more competition?

Smath: "Well little adjustments will be made, but we might make a trade or two to keep up with the Champions, we are all ready in some talks but that is all I can say, any moves will be made after UFA1 period anyways so there is nothing to talk about, I just wanted the Heat fans to know we are working hard trying to put up a team that will contend for the 2034 KVBL title , we want that 3rd title as much as you guys do! and we might do moves that hurts our future a bit to improve our chances, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger if I see a good opportunity to Improve the team.
About the new power houses out west, Lions and Spurs are looking very good, but end of the day if we do end up getting to the finals I think we have an even shot winning against every west team, I'm always more concerned about the east, as we have to beat more teams there."

Me: ok! sounds like a good plan, but if you go all in won't that heart the Heat future? what about your 2 new rookies, how are they going fit in your teams future?

Smath: "Well I think both Lorenzo and Scott have some nice potential, I'v talked to both kids and I hope they are willing to work hard for me and for Coach Obradovic, if they work hard and progress in the right areas they could both be very good players, even starters. That been said I still don't know what the future will bring If we have a chance to improve the team right away and that means shipping one of those guys I might do it, I don't know yet, but if we keep both along with our young beast of a center sitting right near me right now I think our future should look good, yes our team is a bit old , but I feel like we have 1 or 2 more good years left in us, then we will retool again around new players, but if Raivis keeps working hard I think he is the future of this franchise, and in a few years we'll do our best to retool and bring some good players around him as always."

Me: Well, its been great talking to you guys! As a Heat fan what can I wish you? of course a 3rd championship to you Mr.Smath and a 1st KVBL championship to you Mr.Hauks, keep up the hard work! maybe just maybe we'll see you in the All-Stars game one day, thank you very much, both of you.

Raivis: "Thank you very much Jeff."
Smath: "Take care, and to all Heat fans out there, keep supporting the team! we appreciate it alot!"

Well guys you have heard the Miami Heat GM himself talk about the upcoming season! go buy your season tickets and lets all hope for a good season, peace out, Jeff.

Re: Heat Blogger

The End of the Run?

Hey Heat fans out there its Jeff again! a lot have happen since my last blog, The Heat did get their 3rd championship, Hauks got his 1st.
The 2 years after that, The Heat did not do so good in the regular season but battled throw playoff injuries to a 2nd rounde game 7 knockout twice in a row , and they were up 3-1 in both cases , only 1 game away from the ECF. Overall those 3 years sum up a great decade for the Heat fans and to GM Smath and coach Obradovic that will probably have to end after the 2037 season. The "gariatric" Heat I'v heard ppl refer to the old Heat team and they are right, Heat are going to try to bring their heart and expiriance in the playoffs once again but this will probably be a transition season acording to GM Smath who is right here with us!

Me: GM Smath how nice of you to join us.

Smath: "Its great to be here Jeff."

Me: Lets get to it, you have obviously stated that 2037 will be the last year this Heat team will try to win games , and that a lot of changes are going to come, Heat fans are getting scared! what are the plans?

Smath: "Well we can't win forever Jeff, our team is old and after a great decade its time we add a young prospect or two from the KVBL draft, Its not a question of IF because its going to happen, its a question of how.. the key is to do this right so we could be up there again in a few years. First of all we need to find the right opportunity and the right trades, if the right offer comes this year we might not wait for 2038, anyone could go this year in the right scenario, our goal is to get as many future assets/draft picks for out future, our guys might be old but they are still very capable. Second of all, after this year we might see a change in the coaching staff, yes Obradovic and Lebron had a great decade leading the Miami Heat, but if we'r going to rebuild a young team we give me a chance to some one else, some one younger and hungrier.

Me: wow! so your saying everything might change, when you say anyone could go you actually mean anyone? Including Opoku and Hauks

Smath: "I'll give you a scoop, we are already in talks with a west team about Hauks, and we might end up pulling the trigger. Opoku can go but only if the offer is right for us, he might not be a top 5 player anymore but he's still one of the best PG's in the league."

So we'v heard a lot is going to change in the Heat franchise in the next few years, Its truly the end of great decade and we can only hope the future is bright! peace out Heat fans.
