Post 2028 Free Agency Preview (sorta)

Clarence Harvey
'27/28: 14.4 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.8 SPG, 1.2 BPG, 1.1 TO/G on 34.3% FG, 71.2% FT, 30.3% 3FG in 34.8 MPG
Career: 20.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 3.3 APG, 2.3 SPG, 1.7 BPG, 1.7 TO/G on 35.8% FG, 70.4% FT, 33.2% 3FG in 37.1 MPG

Clarence Harvey has been a KVBL mainstay due mostly to his tenacious, game changing defense (for which he has one DPOY award to his credit). He's been no slouch on the offensive end over the years either, albeit on some very uninspiring percentages. Having just come off a six year, $160.94 million deal, you'd have to think that Harvey will be a bit less money focused this offseason and instead look to join a team where he can vie for a second championship while continuing to start or receive heavy minutes off the bench. Still, it's hard to imagine he'll take less than the MLE to go anywhere given his pride and accomplishments. A return to Las Vegas is possible, but we're not sure if the Timberwolves will want him back when they have younger options available to inherit his minutes. The best option for Harvey is likely a return to Philly, a team with some young talent but the potential to make some noise after acquiring four time champion Frank Weiland. He likely wouldn't get the minutes he would like, but his disruptive presence off the bench would be very dangerous behind Scotty Clay and Maksim Yepanchin.

Alex Moncova
'27/28: 3.2 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.4 APG, 0.1 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 0.3 TO/G on 41.3% FG, 76.9% FT in 7.4 MPG
Career: 17.1 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.4 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.6 TO/G on 50.8% FG, 71.7% FT in 32.4 MPG

Alex Moncova is a four time All-Star with 17,250+ career points to his name, and yet he couldn't get off the bench in Detroit. A lost season for the Russian big man has him itching to return to KVBL relevance, and his sights have been set on the bright lights of Las Vegas. Despite the presence of Rafa Salvadores, Kong Randolph, and Sam Sagan, Moncova believes he can be the piece to push the Timberwolves over the hump and into the KVBL Finals. It remains to be seen if the Wolves will be interested, but if they aren't then Moncova seems content to head to noncontending teams where he should be able to play heavy minutes. The newcomer Kings and rebuilding Cavaliers have piqued his interest and may very well be able to nab him if they're willing to offer him his self-perceived market value.

Jackson Smith
'27/28: 7.2 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.8 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.0 TO/G on 38.7% FG, 70.2% FT, 28.7% 3FG in 24.0 MPG
Career: 11.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 1.7 TO/G on 44.8% FG, 67.0% FT, 34.6% 3FG in 32.2 MPG

This eight-time dunk contest participant (and one time winner) should be on his way to a new home after amicably parting ways with the Vancouver Lions, likely to a place where he can be a cog-type starter or a versatile bench piece. Smith's career numbers don't necessarily jump out at you anywhere, but he's always been an essential part of what the Lions have been doing. We're not really sure where Smith is going to end up, but he'll definitely find a job somewhere and continue to contribute in a variety of ways.

Javier Garcia
'27/28: 14.8 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 0.6 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 1.7 TO/G on 56.7% FG, 60.2% FT in 32.3 MPG
Career: 13.8 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 0.6 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.6 TO/G on 57.2% FG, 59.3% FT in 32.1 MPG

Javier Garcia has been a key piece of the Los Angeles Lakers for many years, but may finally be looking to find a home elsewhere this offseason via free agency. Teams might be a bit concerned about signing such a large man to a long term deal given potential durability issues, but Garcia has been very steady throughout his career and should continue to provide 14/9 on over 50% shooting for years and years to come. Defense and fouling are concerns, yes, but teams can still very much make use of his scoring and rebounding. Garcia's agent seems to want to undercut Alex Moncova's attempts to land in Las Vegas, but we're not expecting anything to come of that. A return to the Lakers seems most likely given the team's Bird rights, but it wouldn't be a complete surprise if he landed somewhere else.

Henry Torre
'27/28: 10.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 1.4 TO/G on 48.1% FG, 76.4% FT in 24.8 MPG
Career: 10.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.5 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.5 TO/G on 49.1% FG, 75.5% FT in 25.6 MPG

The Clippers were able to win a championship with Henry Torre and Frank Weiland locking down the post, but we don't expect that to overwhelm any GMs into thinking that Torre is back to being a definite starter in this league. Torre has primarily been a bench player throughout his career, albeit a very effective one for keeping opponents' offenses in check, and we expect that to continue next season. Torre's representation is hinting at his desire to win another championship, so don't be surprised if he signs for the MLE or less to be part of a winner's three man big rotation.

Salvatore Fantastigas
'27/28: 13.2 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.2 SPG, 1.6 TO/G on 43.0% FG, 83.9% FT, 45.0% 3FG in 30.3 MPG
Career: 11.5 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 1.1 TO/G on 43.0% FG, 85.3% FT, 43.9% 3FG in 23.3 MPG

Salvatore Fantastigas is one of the greatest three point shooters of all time, something that should help him to find a home rather quickly this offseason. It is unclear if the Lakers will look to retain Fantastigas, but one can assume that they will at least check to see if the price is right. Defense has never been a strong suit for Salvatore, and that's not going to get any better. Still, there is value in the ability to hit three to four threes a game and he should command at least the MLE. Many teams will probably look to add Fantastigas to their bench, but he'll look to nab a starting gig if he can find one.

Riley Thurman
'27/28: 4.3 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 0.3 APG, 0.1 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 0.6 TO/G on 54.4% FG, 68.1% FT in 17.6 MPG
Career: 12.2 PPG, 10.4 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.4 SPG, 2.1 BPG, 1.4 TO/G on 58.6% FG, 74.2% FT in 33.3 MPG

Retirement might be the best option for Riley Thurman at this point, but the five time All-Star seems determined to keep playing until his body can't hold up anymore. A championship is likely still on Riley's wishlist, but he's unlikely to get one if he's more than a bench player wherever he lands. Strength has eroded, leaving defense inside a shell of its former self for Thurman. In any case, Riley still brings value due to his great efficiency from the field and his ability to pitch in with a block or two a night along with solid rebounding. It's unlikely that Riley would turn down a big money offer if he got one, but the likelihood is that he'll be choosing between bargain deals from teams that need depth inside.

Clyde Grubbs
'27/28: 12.2 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 4.2 APG, 2.1 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 1.4 TO/G on 41.6% FG, 92.5% FT, 42.9% 3FG in 31.8 MPG
Career: 12.2 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 3.6 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 1.4 TO/G on 41.1% FG, 93.4% FT, 39.1% 3FG in 25.7 MPG

Clyde Grubbs remains a wanted player in this league because of his ability to hit threes efficiently at a high volume. His next team is going to be one that embraces this strength while not worrying too much about his weaknesses, something that has us feeling confident that he'll land with the Lakers. Grubbs' shooting could serve as a replacement for Fantastigas or as a beneficiary of the attention that he draws. That'd be a sight.

Walker Gilchrist
'27/28: 23.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 2.5 TO/G on 47.3% FG, 73.0% FT, 37.1% 3FG in 38.8 MPG
Career: 24.8 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 2.6 TO/G on 49.5% FG, 77.2% FT, 38.7% 3FG in 37.9 MPG

Perennial All-Star Walker Gilchrist hits the open market for what might be the final time after several great years with the SuperSonics. Gilchrist is still one of the better scorers in the league and should be a huge boost there for whatever team manages to land him. Rings have eluded him to this point, but Gilchrist might take this opportunity to choose a team that will give him the chance to right that wrong. A team like the Sharks could cover for Gilchrist's defensive lapses while greatly benefiting from his offensive talents. Alas, they likely won't have the money to bring him in. Money might win the day for Gilchrist, but we hope he can land somewhere that makes winning a priority.

Mancin Tulker
'27/28: 12.8 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 0.8 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.5 BPG, 1.8 TO/G on 48.6% FG, 74.1% FT in 27.9 MPG
Career: 20.1 PPG, 11.0 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 2.2 BPG, 2.2 TO/G on 53.5% FG, 74.7% FT in 38.4 MPG

One of three players to nab three KVBL DPOY awards, Mancin Tulker has been earning praise since his arrival. Lately, however, the applause for his defense has seemed to be based largely on reputation rather than actual execution, something that likely won't go unnoticed as he looks to sign what might be his final big contract of his career. Like Riley Thurman, Tulker's best days are behind him. He'll still provide a team with rebounding and scoring, but the lack of fouls for Tulker is much less impactful these days than it used to be. A rotation role is assured, but it could be anywhere. Tulker's just not the commodity that he used to be.

John Wall
'27/28: 8.1 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 1.4 TO/G on 39.2% FG, 76.3% FT, 27.1% 3FG in 23.0 MPG
Career: 15.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 2.5 TO/G on 44.5% FG, 77.7% FT, 30.3% 3FG in 32.2 MPG

John Wall will reach 1,000 games played next season, adding another mark to a career that includes multiple All-Star appearances and championships. Age has slowed the once quick point guard, but crafty play ensures that Wall can still be effective in a limited role for a team that needs leadership from its point guard. Wall won't come close to fetching a salary in the teens as he's commanded for so long, but he'll make plenty enough to make him happy as long as he's on a team with a chance to give him his fourth title. Wall would be a nice addition to just about every team.

Jaxon Blake
'27/28: 11.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.1 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 2.0 TO/G on 48.6% FG, 86.8% FT, 18.6 3FG in 31.4 MPG
Career: 15.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 4.7 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 2.7 TO/G on 47.4% FG, 84.7% FT, 20.0% 3FG in 37.1 MPG

Jaxon Blake was at his best running the Warriors' offense in St. Louis, but remains an effective player whether he plays there or at either wing spot. Sources indicate that Blake is content to seek out the biggest deal he can get due to already having a championship ring from his time playing with Dre Byers and Co. Very solid all around, Jaxon is going to be a nice addition for whichever team lands him.

Frank Daniels
'27/28: 13.4 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.5 SPG, 2.1 BPG, 1.5 TO/G on 52.7% FG, 52.4% FT in 30.5 MPG
Career: 17.5 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.6 SPG, 2.1 BPG, 1.7 TO/G on 54.0% FG, 53.6% FT in 32.9 MPG

The Tank finds himself on the open market after a very productive year in San Antonio, something that should help him to add a few hundred thousand to his next KVBL contract. Primarily a post scoring machine, Daniels will also rebound decently enough and block a lot of shots for his new team. There isn't a clear landing spot for Daniels at this point, but he's going to get scooped up by somebody. That team will definitely be pleased with what they get from him.

Re: 2028 Free Agency Preview (sorta)

I was starting to fade a bit as this went on, so I didn't get to everybody I was originally going to include. Mostly just an excuse to look at these players' numbers as we get closer to the UFA deadline.
