This is only kind of true. If you get fouled on a shot attempt it's not counted as a FGA unless you make it, and this holds true in JSB as well.

I am almost certain a fouled missed shot is counted as a fga in nba statistics.

Just researched it and I am wrong. Although I could have sworn that was the case. I remember instances where announcers were like, "X player may be shooting 2-13, but he is getting to the line. This will be free throw 15 and 16."

Guess I just misinterpreted what they meant.

Lol personally I think it's dumb not to count it as a fga. At first I thought maybe because of double counting. But since it's counted if the basket goes in, it should also count if it doesn't. It's a shot or it isn't in my opinion.

I just assumed that it wasn't fair for the player, to lower his shooting % on a shot that he was fouled on.

But it gets increased if the ball magically goes in. I just feel that it is considered a foul in the act of shooting and yet it isn't counted as a shot depending on the outcome.

Magically? Skill!!

It's more of a reward for making a tough play, and it's nothing for missing a shot when fouled. I really don't see a problem with it

Both Black and McMillan have both shot similar percentages. Black does have a better foul rate. Both have similar TO rating. Both have a similar ast rating. They seem similar in a lot of ways with slight differences.
