I just think this whole argument is just silly. How many teams can we make this same ridiculous argument for? How many teams won titles just because of Maynard? LeBron? Dwight? This is hardly an infrequent phenomenon.

Of note is that Jay won a title pretty much immediately after this trade. So everyone who said "This works out better for Jay in the short term" was right, but Caramel kept getting better and better and better, eventually becoming the beast we all know and love today and winning his chips.
