Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Like I told GO, if you have a chance to get the best player in the sim you take it.
Definitely makes Jay's team more dangerous though, gives him a mini-Caramel in Travere, Donald Cooper who is awesome, and Tony Brooks is always nice to have. Deal works well on both sides.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Too many trades so I can't really judge the Cavs team yet but I get why the Hawks did this trade. When you're offered a 20 year old Michael Jordan you say yes first and worry later.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Probably wouldn't have done this trade if I thought I could win the chip this year. But without home court throughout it's less likely that I would have won, and trading Caramel would have been an inevitability for me. It's hard to improve your team when your bigs are getting older and you have no cap space and no picks.
As great as it is to have a great player like Caramel, it left me in a spot where I would never be able to significantly improve, no cap space for a good FA and players regressing a bit every year. Plus, I was a little bored with my team too...

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Jay definitely gets himself a nice haul, and he's now got so many options with his starting lineup. Travere is very similar to Love in a lot of ways, so the structure of his team isn't totally compromised by moving Caramel Love. Donald Cooper is the epitome of efficient, he literally does every thing well. Tony Brooks is putting up 14.5/8.8 on good percentages, and he never turns it over. And the 1st is almost certainly not going to be a lotto pick, but those late 1sts have been producing some very useful players.
I do this because Caramel Love is the best player in the game and he's only 20 years old. I was able to keep Curtis Rhodes as well, and I feel like Love/Rhodes gives me a lot of flexibility at my other positions. Lawson is underrated by the majority of people on here, and Odom is a nice plug in player until he retires. Lawson/Nash Love/Lawson Rhodes/Odom Odom/Lopez/Udoh Biedrins/Lopez/Udoh Gives me a respectable lineup for this year, and I have Love (20) and Rhodes (23) to build with long term. I'll also have Biedrins (11.44 expiring), Beasley (6.7 expiring), Wallace (3.5 expiring), and Chandler (1.64 expiring) coming off the books, with the potential of Nash and Odom both retiring (42 and 36 respectively). I'm over the hard cap, but it's a nice start into getting some wiggle room to really build around these two. Lawson is an ideal stopgap at PG for the next few seasons though, he fits perfectly.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
If you're getting great, you have to give up great. This is an old-fashioned talent for talent swap. Good work by both teams.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
I get that it's Caramel but I think the Hawks take a step back after this trade. It will probably work out for them in the long run but I would've wanted to see what that team could do in the playoffs first. That Big 3 was crazy...

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Trust me Brian, this was probably the best built team I've had in any version of KVBL and that fantastic fit is sort of gone now.
But lets sit back and think about this. I got probably the best scorer in the league, who's also a great rebounder, a great passing off guard, plays elite level defense, and leads the league in steals (and also blocks .7 shots a game as a guard). He's got a really nice foul rate too, 2.7 in 36.7 minutes is legit. Lawson is a great fit at PG, and it gives me a few years until I need to find that ideal replacement next to Love.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Like I said, when you get the right team around Caramel it will probably be better than your current team. But your current team was ECF-bound and depending on how they matched up against the Bucks you could've gone to the Finals. Just seems like a lot to give up for another semi-rebuilding job which for sure I trust you to pull off. But then again it IS Caramel Love.
Were you given the choice to keep Rhodes or Cooper? Cause I would've kept Cooper.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
I matched up very well with most teams in this league, but the Bucks (sadly, because he reminds me about it) were not one of them. Their frontcourt of D Will/George/Zvnoko was a formidable corollary to my 1-2-3.
And I was the one who sent the offer. Originally I said something about Rhodes/Coop and Jay seemed pretty into it, but Travere/Love is too redundant to work. I felt like Rhodes and Coop were both good fits next to Love, so I opted for youth and financial flexibility in Rhodes. He'll continue to progress with Love, and they should both be perennial All-Stars. It was a minor reason as well, but I do think Coop is best suited to play SG (as is Love), while Rhodes is best suited to play SF. So fit, age, and contract were the main reasons I chose to add Coop instead of Rhodes.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Cleveland
Hard to say who wins out right. Both got great talents. But just a reminder. Lawson is only PG eligible. Saw him listed as backup SG in the depth chart posted.
