Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
So very happy to land Mahoney, he'll be my defensive anchor hopefully for the next 8-10 seasons. His defensive 1-9's are already top notch, he won't turn it over, blocks shots, great rebounder, and I get the feeling he'll be one of those guys who routinely shoots over his ratings in terms of percentages. He allows me a lot of freedom at my other positions as well, gives me the "type" of player I want to build with at the center position.
Wasn't totally thrilled about anybody at 6, I think I was going to draft Tomer or Jorge if I couldn't get Mahoney. Both of those guys look solid, but Mahoney is the guy I had my eye on (at least that I thought I could realistically get) from the beginning. Moncova is a solid player who will be on an MLE level expiring, so he's a flippable asset. Not to mention this deal cleared me enough money to offer a max contract, and to have some change left over afterwards too. Secreast definitely gets good value out of this though too, Cheikh is criminally underrated by most GM's in the league. His contract is declining, his skillset is totally unique, and he's a really great player all around. From the sounds of it he likes Hal Cross too, lots of defensive playmaking ability he brought in with this trade.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
Not sure what to think about this trade.
I feel like BJ gave up quite a bit more talent for what he wanted, but Senghor's contract is still a little on the heavy side.

Harrison Mahoney is going to be an amazing player. I like this more for BJ

Hal Cross is already a top 3 shot blocker though... Going to be a regular dpoy candidate.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
No way to know without seeing foul rates, and he isn't a great rebounder either which does have an influence. Cross is a nice player though, secreast got good value and I consolidated for what I consider to be a franchise building block.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
I agree with BJ, secreast did good. But Mahoney is top notch.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
Not going to get into it cause I don't really care about Cheeky Senghor.
I remember a select few people talking him up a while back. You may or may not have been one of those people. Also, take a look at his contract, he's at least overrated by one person in this joint |

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
He got that contract in RFA. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't with some people. People who don't offer ridiculous contracts to RFA's get berated with harsh comments because they gave somebody a favorable deal, but now you're using this against somebody at the end of the contract? It's the nature of the game man, you have to pay to play. The contract he's getting into now is from a Declining contract extension. People get really hung up on his contract, and I don't get it. D'Angelo McMillian on an MLE contract is an exception, not the norm.

Re: Trade: Atlanta and Boston
Dude is worth 10 million tops, he got paid max. Actually he's worth 10 million now, but he wasn't this good back when he was first signed.
Unless you're looking to go for broke to win it all (in which case, he wouldn't even likely be the missing piece of the puzzle), there is absolutely no reason to trade for Cheeky, especially if you're a rebuilding team. He takes up too much cap which prevents you from doing stuff a rebuilding team needs to do. Dude is making top dollars and he's INCAPABLE of carrying his team. He's not, and never will be one of those "all-star roleplayers" that we all love, ala Reggie Wright, Frank Weiland or Lance Prince. Cheeky is average and overpaid, that's all there is to it. |
