Interesting pick, the Clippers take another PG.

What are the clippers thinking. Great job elgin. We need a project center, and you get a 4th point guard on the roster. Not only that, but someone most of us have never heard of. Oh brother.

PS. Perhaps it was the 3 assists/3 turnovers that this guy averaged as a senior that attracted the clippers.
With minard, jin, etc. still on the board, this is the best they could come up with?

I think he's an underrated playmaker, but I don't think a scoring point is what this team needs. I would've taken Antonio Burks easily or Ha Seung Jin.

I dont want him becasue there is no reason to have two rookie points they better find a veteran or they will definetly be i the lotto again next year.

If you're a fan of college basketball, you know who Lionel Chalmers is. He's a very underrated talent.
If you've been following the post season workout circuit, Chalmers has impressed as much as any 2nd round guard.
As for a project C, what do we need one for? The team already has two.
We have an 18 year old, 6'10(with a 7'5 wingspan) 310lb Sofoklis Shortsanitis overseas, and we have a 23 year old, 7'2 330lb Josh Moore on the roster.
We don't need another project C. We have enough. Ha Seung Jin, is no more a talent than Josh Moore. He's just big, like Moore.
I think you can never have too many big men, but, you also have other needs on the team. And PG was our weakest spot, and even with the drafting of Livingston, we had no quickness at the spot. Chalmers brings it in bunches.

I think Clippers should trade that Jaric guy now... because they have three point guards over him.
Livingston, Chalmers and Dooling

Jaric is better than all of them right now, so getting rid of him doesnt make a whole lot of sense
Dooling is not coming back also. So that leaves two rookies, one an HSer, and one a second round pick - Jaric has to be kept.

Jaric is a true guard. He was played as a PG last season because there was a lack of player in that department.

Well, call me old fashioned, but i like my point guards to be pure point guards. His scouting report says that he is more of a 2 guard/scorer than a point guard, and while some can get away with that, he doesnt have the size and ability to have that kind of game i dont think. I also dont like to have my point guards average the same amount of turnovers as assists.
I dont think the Clippers have any project centers at this time. I heard sofo was really closer to 6 8, making his game more suited for the power forward in the nba. Also, that guy moore is not a project. Hes more of just a body to have on the roster. Projects have upside that can be developed. At the age of 23/24, i dont see moore with much upside. However, Jin, being 6 years younger than him would have tremendous upside.
Jaric is our starting point guard. Cannot trade him. Dooling is history. Instead of jaric being a 2 first, and then a point guard, i maintain hes a point guard first, who can also play the shooting guard. Most of his career he has played point. He may not have eyes in the back of his head, or magic johnson type passing skills, but he gets the job done.

Sofoklis was officially 6'10(in shoes) and some change and 314lbs in his New York workout last year. He is not 6'8.
Thats definitely C size, especially with a 7'4 or 7'5 wingspan. Everything about him is a C.
Thats one C project.
And Josh Moore is a C project too. He is more than just big, its just that thats all he is now. At Michigan, he actually displayed some impressive agility for a man of his size. I remember watching him his frosh or soph year there and was impressed with his size and moving ability. But, thats the extent of his skills right now. He bites too much on fakes and commits a lot of fouls, which keeps him off the floor.
So he is a big man with some physical talent. He just needs someone to teach him the finer points of playing the C position.
Thats the definition of a project to me. That makes 2.
And thats behind our 22 year old, 2nd year C.
We dont need any more youth at C. We need some veteran guidance if anything.
As for Chalmers - Whether you're old fashioned or not, and whether a guy is a true PG or not really doesnt mean a whole lot there. The kid is a 2nd round pick, and even if he just becomes a solid backup, thats an excellent pick.
With Livingston and Jaric, we have two big, pass first guards that lack the quickness to play the quicker points in the league. The perfect fit for them is a 2guard PG size and quickness. Livingston/Jaric play the passer role on offense, and on defense they become the 2guard covering the bigger player. Chalmers is allowed to be a scorer on offense, and on defense he covers the quick point guard. Thats the perfect combo if you're point guard happens to be big and lacking of quickness to cover the small guards.
I think you're getting to critical of a 2nd round pick. If Chalmers were bigger or more pass first, then the kid would not have been around in the 2nd round. He brings his skills that can help out a team, but its not as a starter. He can bring quickness, energy, and instant offense off the bench which every team in the league needs. That would be a helluva 2nd round pick if he can provide that.

Chalmers got game for a 6-0, his real quick and love to penetrate.
The Clippers need a vet Center....but if Detroit can win the championship without one, so can any team. The key is defense and teamwork!. Defensive wise the clippers is real weak.
Only Brand works his a$$$ off in defense , well Karman too, but his basketball IQ is low.

The Pistons had Elden Cambell who had his moments through out the playoffs. And Ben Wallace is a Vet in my opinon. But the Clips do need a veteran center but there really isnt any.

Chalmers has game exactly like Troy Hudson, and when I say exactly I mean it. He's the perfect bench PG, he can run the offense, and if the defense sags off of him, he can make them pay. His weakness is sometimes he over dribbles, but he was a great pickup.
