Clippers heads and shoulders above now on Kobe Race?
Other than the Clippers, wasnt phoenix the only other team mentioned that was a front runner for Kobe? Now that they have committed to steve nash, are the Clippers the only ones now who have a legit shot at him?

Ive always felt its a battle of the LA teams. He's going to be a Laker or a Clipper.

The thing that im worried about is kobe not giving the clippers a straight answer....then Q getting signed to an offer sheet, and the clippers dont match, not wanting to lose their shot at kobe, then kobe bolts, leaving the clips empty handed.
This is why im HOPING that sterling has set some kind of deadline to get an answer from kobe. If they get him, great, but i dont want them to waste time on him and miss out on other opportunities either.

Well, after latest events, ill go up from saying theres a 10% chance that we get kobe, to a 50/50 chance.
[begin dreaming phase]
Starting 5:
Kaman
Brand
Magette
Bryant
Jaric
Next 5:
Ely
Wilcox
Simmons
House
Livingston
Rest:
Barnes?
Ross?
Moore?
Chalmers?
That team is a legit 8-9 deep. After that, severe drop off, but i cant see the cippers being as injury ridden this year as last. Anyway, i really do like that lineup. With a superstar that opposing teams now have to focus on, i can only dream of how brand and magette can take advantage of that.
[/end dreaming phase]

To say that Kobe leaving the franchise that he's won 3 titles with, spent his whole NBA career with, and had tons of memories with for the CLIPPERS is a 50/50 chance is just pipedreaming.
10%, I'll give you that.

If Kobe were so sentimental, there is no way he would have opted for free agency.
But, thats not the case. Kobe has a major ego, and he is not going to think about the memories he had as a Laker. Thats a major stretch to assume he is going to do that.
He may remain a Laker, but it certainly is not for his memories there. It will be because they are turning the entire organization over to him.
I think the news of Coach K, actually favors Kobe returning to the Lakers. I have no doubt that Kobe is one of the people who recommended Coach K's name.

earlier this year I spoke with someone close to kobe and at that time they thought the clpis had as good if not better chance than the lakers to sign kobe and you can put all the marbles on the fact that if the lakers dont comit to getting rid of shaq kobe will be a clipper. Kobe has already had a huge affect on the clippers decissions this year to build a workout facility and get a nice charter plane instead of that crap the rode on before january of this year. The clipps are doing everything there asked to do by r.p.(rob pelinka) and the kobe camp, and I think they have a great chance of getting kobe to sign.

I told you guys last year, i couldnt see odom not being resigned....UNLESS baylor had some kind of idea that he did have a decent chance to get Bryant this year, and wanted to save the space. Now a year later, although its FAR from a lock, low and behold the clippers have the best chance out of the league other than the lakers to sign bryant.
Honestly though, what are the chances he will be acquitted? Its not a lock, is it? Also, im not familiar with the whole legal system...what does '20 years of probation" mean?

Kobe may take a chance on the clips, so he can be the real face of a team, the first (?) real HOF clipper, and he would have a great supporting cast there, if shaq leaves, id say the clippers are a better team than the lakers.
kobe, brand, maggette, wilcox, kaman, jaric etc etc, thats a pretty good lookin team to me

Coach K wasn't even being discussed a week ago, and people were saying that Kobe would go back to the Lakers. Now that Coach K is a candidate, if he goes back to Duke, Kobe will go to the Clippers for sure?
That makes no sense at all.

I think Coach K is being discussed because that's who Kobe wants, but if he doesn't land in LA, that doesn't kill Kobe's chances of returning to the Lakers. I'm sure he didn't give them one option, Coach K was probably the primary one.
I think Kobe opted out of his contract, was the same reason Jason Kidd opted out last year, not necessarily did the team not have a good chance of getting them back, it's the fact that in free agency the superstar players get their egos fluffed like no other. You can have a million Jim Gray interviews were he's making Kobe feel like a God, but nothing is equal to team owners and GM telling you how valuable you are while wining and dining you around town, and offering millions of dollars. From everything I gathered most superstar players love that.
When it all ends, though, Kobe is left with two options either him as the centerpiece of the Lakers or Clippers, and at the end of the day the decision isn't sentimental. He could go to the Clips, and lead them to a championship, and they still wouldn't be the Lakers. And for a guy like Kobe, that has to mean a whole lot.
