I don't want to hear any *****ing about this from this organization when a guy like Baron Davis is available and could be attained.
I much rather hear the Clips made a offer (a reasonable one) and it was refused, then hear Elg say crap, like, "but what about his back?"

Outside of Davis, who would Dunleavy be interested in? I has been obvious this season that the Clippers do not have a go-to guy on team for the 4th quarter. The Clippers need one imediately right now and I wouln't mind seeing a trade happen to get one if the trade doesn't include, the 'untouchables' (Brand, Maggette, Kaman, Livingston, Simmons).

I dont think baron davis is the answer. When you look for a go to guy, its usually not the PG position, especially since you have livingston for the future. The Go to guy is usually a SG/SF (jordan, james, allen, iverson (until this year that he plays pg now), mcgrady, bryant, carter, etc.), or a physically or athletically dominant big man (duncan, oneal, garnett, etc.)
From the article it almost seems as if one option for dunleavvy is developing a CURRENT player into that kind of player. Magette i think is the only one who has that potential due to his speed and athleticism, and getting to the hole. Problem is his shooting.

Mags has been in the league 5-6 years, so when is he magically going to become a go to a guy?
If Baron weren't a go to guy, the Hornets wouldn't have had the success they've had over the past few years, do you need to watch a little more Baron?
I can't even imagine someone watching him right now and what's done for the Hornets the past week and not be like wow, this guy is pretty damn good.
He has double digit assists games where really they're only other offensive "threat" is Lee Nailon.
I can't imagine what he would do having Mags and Brand, he'd be that much of a better player and so would those guys.
If you want to sit around and wait for Mags to become a go to guy or Brand to become a go to guy, ok, keep counting sheep and keep counting losses.
It's obviously a big issue if Dunleavy has been whining about it all year.
BTW, who is the answer? Dunleavy's son?

Didnt say he was. Said he was the only one who had the potential. That because the only thing he has to work on is his shot, something that is possible. Took mcgrady till his 5th year. Rashard lewis is having a career year even thoug he has allen on the team...this is his 7th year. mags for 6 straight years has raised his averages...heck, 3 more years of raising and hes on that level without any miracles. Kobe didnt dominate until his 5th year. Again, mags may or may not become a go to guy. But just because he has been in the league for 5 years doesnt mean that he has lost that potential. Hes only 25.

As i said, rarely is it where the PG is the go to guy, and usually only when there are only 2-3 scorers on the team, if that, making the PG need to shoot more. In the clippers system under dunleavvy, its designed to get brand, and the SG/SF points, while letting the PG/C get points only when it comes to them...not many designed plays for those players.
No one is saying davis isnt a good player. But in an ideal system, the PG should not be the go to guy, and regardless, it wouldnt work in dunleavvys system. If they had a chance to pick him up for free, of course no one is saying the clippers wouldnt get him just because hes not the go to player the clippers need...hes a valuable player. However, as i have said many times, because of his injuries, because of the miller situation, because of his contract, because of livingston, because of the clippers history, because of dunleavvy's system, i didnt see that trade being likely, and as it turned out so far, the clippers agree.

No one is saying that except maybe dunleavvy, and still hes not saying that emphatically. Some of us here on the board since last year have been saying we need to get a go to guy or superstar. We were THIS close to get kobe, which unfortunately may have been our best shot. Right now, i cant think of any other options in FA other than redd or allen. For trades, now that carter is gone, i dont see any options there.

Go to Guy = Shawn Livingston
Anyone remember the last game he played. At home agianst Houston, he was the go to guy down the strech, and was producing. He isn't the best go to guy yet - but disn't it seem like he was above and beyond eveyone else on the court with his descision making. And that's what its all about at the end - making the RIGHT descision. That's why some guys are winners (Tim Duncan) (Shaq) (Majic) (Michael) (Larry) - it's about the inteligence!!!!!
