Trade Deadline: Feb. 24. Will the Clippers make a move?
I cant remember the last time the Clippers made a significant, or any kind of, mid season trade. However, it could happen. Do any of you see any trades happening? What trades would you like to see? The only one rumored so far was the baron davis trade, but elgin and dunleavvy pretty much said there was no way that was happening.
Michael redd;s name popped up as being on the block according to insider blurb, but i havent seen the article. Only position the clippers need a solid player at is SG/SF. Someone mentioend simmons as being untouchable...is this from a source in the media? I thought only kaman, mags, and brand and livingston were untouchable.
STerling, baylor, dunleavvy all want a go to guy if one of the clilppers does not assert himself as one...probably even still. Allen wont be on the trading block. I think the clippers need someone like him or redd.
To me, redd seems like the only possible option, and its still only a remote chance. Bucks season is going nowhere, so maybe if they dont think they can afford redd next year, they just rebuild? Problem is the contracts. The only one i could think of that would make sense would be Kittles, Wilcox, future number 1, for Redd, Joe Smith, and TJ Ford's contract. That would give the bucks 10 million next year to play with in free agency, while an immediate replacement for redd for this year (although he could average a max of 15 points), plus a younger, more athletic, future all star (as some here think) version of joe smith.
The only other trades i would like to see happen is possibly 2nd rounders and a filler for skita. Or perhaps a trade for luke walton. But again, those are highly unlikely.

That trade you proposed doesn't make any sense for the Bucks.

Its the only one thats possible though. If reddis on the trading block, it must be because they dont want to give him max money, or they dont think that he will resign with them next year. So, one option would be to trade him for another player under contract that they could use as a long term replacement for him. or, their other optin is trade him for a big expiring contract of someone who plays his position who can replace him for now up to a point, but then, at the end of the year they would have the money to get a decent FA, posibbly two, and then rebuild the team that way, and through the draft.
Also smith is getting old, but wilcox people have said is a potential all star in the east, and hes under the same contract as smith. They could even use the money from kittles next year to extend wilcox's contract, building the team around him and possibly mason.
The only other thing that might work math-wise is Jaric, Wilcox, Rebraca, Kittles for: Redd and van horn. Van Horn also has an expiring contract, so the clippers at the end of the season would use his money to resign redd, and possibly simmons as well. The bucks wouldnt get a draft pick, but they would get jaric who they would have a good chance of signing as their PG for the next few years. rebraca would be just a throw in for salary purposes, again with an expiring contract. If in that situation ones might feel the clippers are giving up too much, remember, clippers have to give up wilcox to get anything, kittles is also trade bait because of his contract, rebraca is not needed on the clippers, and jaric who knows if they can resign him. Heck, the clippers right now have been playing without kittles, wilcox, and jaric, and have won a couple of games...so its the same, except we get one of the best pure shooters in the league.

By the way, just to continue this dream sequence if we get either of those deals, this would be our lineup:
first option:
Center: Kaman, Rebraca, Ndiyaye
PF: Brand, Moore, Smith
SF: Magette, Simmons,
SG: Redd, Ross
PG: Jaric, Livingston, Brunson
Second option:
Center: Kaman, N'diyaye
PF: Brand, Moore
SF: Magette, Van Horn
SG: Redd, Simmons
PG: Livingston, Brunson, Martin, Chalmers
Id say either of those scenarios would get us the playoffs this year, and rid of this years first round pick.
