January 19th at San Antonio: Prediction - Loss
Sorry, there¡¯s just no way. Unless they kidnap Tim Duncan before the game, the Clippers probably won¡¯t have much of a chance. Frankly, even if they did kidnap Tim Duncan, they probably wouldn¡¯t have much of a chance.
January 20th at Dallas: Prediction - Loss
The same back to back that killed the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant. Does anyone really think the Clippers are going to fair any better?
January 22nd at New Orleans: Prediction – Win
This game will be the Clippers¡¯ chance to salvage this road trip. The Hornets are terrible this year, but keep in mind, Baron Davis has been playing again. If he plays this game, this win will certainly be difficult, especially on the road. That¡¯s what kind of effect a difference maker like Baron Davis has on a team. Are you listening, Elgin Baylor?
January 24th hosting Dallas: Prediction – Loss
Sorry folks, the Clippers just showed this weekend that they¡¯re unable to beat the elite teams on the road or at home when they lost to the Sacramento Kings twice. Dallas is better than the Kings, so the result will most likely be the same.
January 26th hosting Los Angeles Lakers: Prediction – Win
The Lakers will be without Kobe Bryant, and quite frankly, they¡¯re a middle of the road team with him playing. Without him playing, the Clippers should win this game and exact some revenge for their two early season losses.
January 28th at Portland: Prediction – Win
Portland, although still a tough team, is leaking water fast, dropping seven of their last eight. The Clippers should win this one, even on the road.
January 29th hosting Golden State: Prediction – Win
The Clippers have owned Golden State this year, and to be honest, Golden State isn¡¯t all that good. The Clippers should win this one to put together a nice three game win streak.
January 31st hosting New York: Prediction – Win
New York is an up and down team this year, and they play the Clippers relatively early on in their extended road trip, but I still think the Clippers can pull out this victory to end January with a 23 and 22 record, eking back above .500. Law of averages could hold true, and the Clippers could very easily lose this game, however.
February 3rd at Memphis: Prediction – Loss
Memphis has turned into a tough team under the Czar, Mike Fratello. They aren¡¯t an easy game for anyone, especially when they¡¯re at home. It¡¯s the beginning of the long road trip for the Clippers, and it won¡¯t start well.
February 4th at Milwaukee: Prediction – Loss
The Bucks have a deceiving record, because a lot of their losses have been close games. Plus, it¡¯s the second night of a back-to-back after a fairly long plane ride. The Clippers are the better team, but back-to-backs on the road are difficult for any team.
Febuary 6th at Philadelphia: Prediction – Loss
Unfortunately, I think this is where the road trip starts to wear on the Clippers as they play their third game in four days. They beat the Sixers convincingly at home, but Allen Iverson still leads a good (if erratic) team. I can easily see the Clippers dropping this game.
February 9th at Boston: Prediction – Win
The Clippers finally get some rest and come out fresh, beating a mediocre Boston team. This game very well could be the lone victory on the road trip (but I think they¡¯ll win one other).
Febuary 11th at Washington: Prediction – Loss
Oddly enough, the Wizards have a pretty good team this year with their trio of scorers: Gilbert Arenas, Larry Hughes, and Antawn Jamison. Hughes will have been out for an extended period, but he should be back around this time, spelling trouble for the Clippers.
February 13th at Toronto: Prediction – Win
This is a very optimistic prediction, unfortunately. Toronto has been playing very well since they sent Vince Carter packing. Still, the Clippers have a better team, on the whole. If the Clippers want to be anywhere near the playoff hunt, though, this is a game they have to win. If they lose, it will probably spell doom, because I don¡¯t think they win any of the remaining games on the road trip.
February 15th at Orlando: Prediction – Loss
Orlando is good this year. Steve Francis doesn¡¯t realize it, but the addition of Doug Christie will prove to be a good one, and by this point, the team should be gelling pretty well. This late in the road trip, against a major contender, the Clippers don¡¯t have a chance.
February 16th at Miami: Prediction – Loss
This game will be ugly. It¡¯s the second night of a back-to-back, on the road, Shaquille O¡¯Neal will be looking for revenge after the Clippers beat the Heat at Staples, and the Heat will probably have Dwayne Wade this time. Let¡¯s just hope nobody gets hurt.
February 23rd at Phoenix: Prediction – Loss
Unless the Suns¡¯ fortunes change dramatically, this will be another blowout. The Clippers will be dog tired, and the Suns are a better team. Hopefully, the Clippers at least enjoy a nice conversation with Quentin Richardson at half court before the game.
February 24th hosting Minnesota: Prediction – Loss
The schedule maker continues to be unkind. Even if they¡¯re finally at home, it¡¯s the second night of a back-to-back. Add to that, they¡¯re playing a tough Wolves team, who are only playing their first game on a road trip after a long rest. The Clippers probably make this game close, but they won¡¯t win, unless Minnesota has completely fallen apart at this point, and Kevin Garnett is left an angry, bitter shell of the player he was last year (which is possible).
February 27th hosting Atlanta: – Prediction - Win
It¡¯s time to take out the frustrations of a long, fruitless road trip on a horrible Hawks team. Lionel Chalmers even reaches double digits in this one.
February 28th at Utah: Prediction – Loss
Utah will have Andrei Kirilenko back by now, and will be a tough, tough opponent. After expending so much energy dismantling the Hawks, Clippers come out flat and get blown out.
