Fantasy Land Trade Scenario
Havent done one of these in a while.
What made me think of it was all these articles im reading about Lebron James being upset with whats going on with the Cavs, and possibly wanting out before his contract is up.
Also, there are clauses in his shoe contracts that make the deals 20 million richer if he plays in New York or Los Angeles....
Cleveland isnt thinking about trading him at all at this point of course, but who knows, according to the articles, it is getting ugly, and will be even more so if they dont make the playoffs this year. If james starts lashing out in the media, and perhaps even threatens pulling a vince carter, i think the cavs will have to consider trading him. This off season would be the best possible time to do it, because not only can they get value for him, they can also get allen or redd in free agency to replace him (ilgauskaus expring contract).
So, here is todays fantasy land scenario?
Cleveland trades James to the clippers for magette, chris wilcox, and 2 future number 1 picks.
Cleveland turns around and signs allen or redd, and also makes wilcox its starting center for next year, saving about 15 million or so from ilgauskaus. On paper, theyre actually better than year, not to mention they get a lottery pick this year, as well as 2 more number ones from the clipps in the future.
LA takes james and his incredibly low rookie contract, resigns all of their FA's like simmons, rebraca, Jaric, etc. and all of a sudden have a team for the next 2-3 years of:
Brand
Simmons
Kaman
James
Livingston.
Will it happen? Of course not. Thats why its called a fantasy land scenario. But if james ever did demand to be traded, the clippers is probably one of the few teams who could trade for him that he would consider...its been said that he would want to play in LA or New york to get that extra 20 million from Nike, which goes a long way when youre "only" making 5 million on a rookie contract.
