Clipper brethren unite! We cannot let them destroy our team now, we're much to close! Thanks guys, it's so very refreshing to hear intelligent, logical, passionate basketball fans sound off in unison. Respect where respect is due.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
If theres any way we can do simmons and wilcox for pierce, then the clippers would be insane not to do it. But if the celtics rejected a deal with maggette, i dont see them accepting one with simmons who is not close to maggettes output, nor is as good a value.
From the celtics viewpoint AND the clippers, a maggette/wilcox/considerations deal for pierce makes a lot more sense than a simmons/wilcox deal. Yet simmons/wilcox still is only paying about 50 cents on the dollar for someone like pierce.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
No Yamaneko, No Pierce.... please no, if you make that trade I will hate you forever!
Oh wait, you're not Baylor...
Anyway, it won't may seem like a good idea at first, but how do we know Pierce would be all that we think he would be? He's like a loose cannon, and we never know what he'd do. Plus there are better free agents out there we would be better to go after...
I think it's better to keep Mags and Simmons, and Brand, and Livingston, and Kaman.. and well... go after Allen. Or Redd, just go after someone who has outside shooting, if we need a go to guy let's get one, but let's not get one that has attitude problems.
Or...
If they have attitude problems, at least get the kind that does NOT let it affect his game.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
Pierce is an all star. A proven cluch player. One of the sweetest shots in the game. These are the things that the clippers have been missing. If maggette scored 30 a game, but every time during crunch time, choked, pierce would still be more valuable. Were not talking personality, likeability, etc. were talking at the end of the season who has more of a direct effect on the W/L column. Fact of the matter is, a player like pierce, kobe, allen, redd, etc. would mean more wins than a simmons or maggette.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
I still prefer likeability if we can still win games and be a winning team. I don't want to be like how the Trail Blazer fans used to be.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
I would eaily trade Maggette for Allen. But Pierce seems to lazy and has a bad attitude. I agree they need a star wing to eventually become a good team but if Shaun can develope into a superstar with Maggette, Simmons and Brand and Kaman this team could go places.

Yeah Pierce's attitude may pose a problem but comparing Ray with Pierce there is a key factor. Pierce is 2 years younger than Ray.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce is a star. He's one of the best players in the game. He is better than Corey Maggette.
OF COURSE you get Paul if you can. Its a no brainer.
I like Corey, but he's not Pierce. Neither plays defense, so its ridiculous to criticize Paul for not doing it, but let Corey off the hook. Paul's a better shooter, better at creating off the dribble ... He's simply a better scorer. He's a goto scorer. He's a guy you can give to the rock to at the end games. We lack that. If we can get him, go for it.
Id go for Redd or Allen first, but as a fallback, it'd still be a great move.

Re: Clips Made Offer For Paul Pierce
Oh no way, It's game over, I'm a clips fan not a celtics. If we gonna deal for a guy that wiggle wiggle and shoot, better let Mags penetrate 65% of Clips shots. It would destroy the Clippers style of play. Don't do it!
