Re: Nuggets are after Jaric

On the topic of this thread : Jaric would seem to be a good fit with Denver. He's an up-tempo combo guard who could fluorish with them much as our former little giant of a guard Earl Boykins has. With Livingston ready to take his game to the next level Jaric is simply not a necessity at the price he will fetch on the market. Nice to know ya Marko, good luck with the Nuggs.

I don't know if Denver is willing to do a sign & trade but I would like to see one. Especially one that brings Boykins back

Yeah, I feel you Weasel. It would be quite disheartening to watch a former Clippers backcourt trio help make Denver serious contenders while the Clipps struggle to remain in playoff contention. I admire what Kiki has done in Denver, he has a great NBA mind. It just kind of sucks that he keeps picking the meat from our bones every offseason

I don't know who, if anyone from Denver's roster would be a good fit here at that salary, but Earl would be more than a welcome re-addition as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Nuggets are after Jaric

If Kiki ever traded Earl, the soccer moms would gather and march on his office with pitchforks and torches in hand.

But seriously, besides being a fan favorite, I know Karl totally loves him, just like Bzdelik and Cooper did. And Karl was supposed to not be fond of small guards. Doug Moe also loves him, and Doug is probably the reason the Nuggets signed him as a free agent in the first place, as he lobbied hard for the Nuggets to sign him when he was a coaching consultant (now he's an assistant coach). So I doubt they'd sign off on trading Earl for Jaric.

I'm not as big on Earl as most people are, because as awesome as he is when he's hot, he's just as bad when he's cold.... but I wouldn't trade him for Jaric. I'd like the Nuggets to sign Jaric to compliment Earl. Jaric would probably start at shooting guard, and when Earl is in one of his funks, Jaric can back up Dre. But there's no question when Earl is in rhythm he can take games over, so I wouldn't want to lose that.

I'm not sure what Kiki's plan is with DerMarr. DerMarr has told his agent he wants to stay in Denver and his agent said he's going to try to get a deal done with Denver, but so far, Kiki's public comments about retaining him have been somewhat noncommittal. On the other hand, he's publicly stated he wants to resign Greg Buckner. Buckner says he wants to return also, but his agent is saying that the Nuggets would need to tap into a "good portion" of the MLE to do so, while DerMarr's agent hasn't made any such public demands. So if Kiki plans on letting DerMarr walk, I guess that's a possibilty.

I don't like it though... Buckner was a nice signing for the minimum last year but he's definitely not worth tapping into a significant portion of the MLE to retain. If DerMarr can be had for cheaper, it's a no brainer to me to go with DerMarr. He needs to work on his D, but if he does it's possible he could develop into a better defender than Buckner, whose nothing more than above average as a defender. Julius Hodge was drafted for his defensive upside as well, so I don't see the need to tap into the MLE to retain Buck.

But, it's not up to me, so maybe you have some hope on this one...
