Why not go after Watson instead? At least look for somebody who doesn't have a tendency to whine, lose focus and bring down the overall morale of the team. Bonzi is a talented player, no doubting that. But if he has yet to realize his "potential" by this point, and if Jerry West his giving him the boot in an option year, why would a team with excellent chemistry even consider a guy like this?
very good question, i'm a big clipper fan and i can say that i totally support signing wells. although i think the character of the current clippers roster would be able to handle wells even if he was whining. but i think it's more a case of he's what's left available.

i wish we hadn't started looking at him so early though and focused more on some of the other forwards besides shareef (who was never gonna sign with us anyways). he's an ok option at this point, but i can't say i'd be nearly as happy adding him as i was about mobley.

Re: The Clippers still interested in Bonzi

Maybe I'm being overly critical of Wells, after all I don't have any personal knowledge of how this guy is the locker room. Though I'm still just a little wary of bringing players like this into the fold considering the size of the contract and the fact that his character has been in question since entering the league.
I would love to see the Clippers simply re-sign their remaining free agents from last year's squad. I would even prefer having Jaric return at 5-6 million per. Despite his penchant for injuries I am more at ease with his personality and quite frankly think he's a better all-around player than Bonzi. But, time will tell. Hopefully the Clippers finish the job and shore up that bench before too much time passes...

Re: The Clippers still interested in Bonzi

I think Bonzi is not a bad addition. I'm also not saying it's a "great" addition. If the price is not so outrageous, and if we still keep Jaric, this is a much better choice than having SAR. Doesn't he have bad knees? Even though SAR has better stats than Bonzi, but if he only plays 40 games a season, then he's useless. I just hope Dunleavy can control Bonzi like he did in Portland.
