Pierce-to-Clippers talk apparently still alive
http://probasketballnews.com/amico_0812.html
Quote:
Three NBA sources told me this week that the Clippers have approached Boston about the availability of Paul Pierce. There had been some speculation earlier this summer about a possible Pierce-to-the-Clips trade, but those rumors seemed to fade following the draft.
Having written that, I find it hard to believe that the Clippers would inquire about ANYONE. Especially when you consider they already signed free-agent guard Cuttino Mobley -- a major gamble when you’re notoriously cheap Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

I dont know if the Clips really have asked about Pierce, but no way we should trade for Pierce after signing Mobley. I think Mobley is a great compliement to Maggette, and we would have to give up Maggs to get Pierce. We should be trying to pickup some role players to add to our bench.

Obviously a Lionel Chalmers for Paul Pierce straight up trade is best for both teams... jk.
But really though, Maggette's contract is an absolute steal considering how good he is. We'd at least need Maggette and another 9 million or so in players to make it happen....
I really hope the clippers aren't serious about this one, because although Pierce is a great player, we'd probably lose too much and be capped out if it did happen.

Re: Pierce-to-Clippers talk apparently still alive
pierce would def be a good fit for the clips
his outside shooting plus his abiliity to draw fouls is a def +
maybe clips can get him by trading maggette, wilcox, and jaric
in return the clips get bank and pierce

Id do maggette wilcox and jaric for pierce and a PG or draft pick. If we dont get a PG from them, then sign one, sign moore, and call it an offseason. With a starting lineup of pierce, brand, kaman, livingston, and mobley, that would be killer.

I think with a combo of Mobley and Maggette we have what we need. Mobley gives us the outside shooting Pierce would bring. Maggette also can move back to SF and he gets to the line as much as anyone in the NBA. Not to mention with Pierce we would have no defense at all.

Mobley is a pile of crap compared to Paul.
But that being said, Mobley is a much nicer price and we didn't have to give up a player like Mags to get him.
But wow, could you imagine the Clippers with Paul instead of Mobely.. If we didnt have to give up Mags........

Hell No!! I Want Nothing To Do With Pierce. The Guy Is A Black Hole. If You Pass Him The Ball There Is 99.9% Chance That You Will Not See The Ball Again. Mobley Is A Perfect Compliment To Mags. Moving Mags Back To Sf Is Only Going To Make Him More Effective. Pierce Seems To Get Lazier On Defense Every Year. I Like The Team We Have Now So Dont Mess It Up Elgin!

I like Pierce, but I'm content with what we have. Someone from the Celtics I do like is Tony Allen.

Re: Pierce-to-Clippers talk apparently still alive
I am not sure about this trade now. I was interested back when the Clippers still had Simmons.
Stats time: (last season)
Maggette: 22.2 pts, 43% FG, 6 RPG, 3.4 APG, 1.06 SPG, 2.95 TO's
Pierce: 21.6 pts, 45.5% FG, 6.6 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.62 SPG, 2.9 TO's
Maggette and Pierce stats wise are very similar players. Their height and weight are almost an exact match also. Only there is a 2 year difference between them. Pierce is from LA so he will get a lot of love here from the fans from both the court and his merchandise. The Clippers I believe have two untouchables, Brand and Livingston. If any trade were to happen I would say it would be Maggette and Wilcox for Pierce.
