No Jaric? No problem!
I've been seeing a lot of people talking as though losing Jaric is going to hurt us, and Sam Cassell is going to hinder us. Well... considering the fact Jaric gets injured and Sam only had one bad year of injuries...

Re: No Jaric? No problem!
As much as people want to deny it, Jaric is a very good player, and the clippers would have been better off this year & in the long run with Jaric on the team. Cassell is better, but he is on the decline, and we will probably only get one quality year from him, then what? Gamble with that first round pick i guess.
Jaric would have been an awesome back up guard... just not at the high price minnesota was willing to dish out. We will definitely miss his defensive abilities and he could've been 6th man of the year on the clips.

Re: No Jaric? No problem!
I wouldn't say he is a very good player but he was a good player and versatile. He showed signs of improvement this year but still faced his past with injuries. I wouldn't have minded having him back but he got over-payed. Though Jaric wanted to start, had he stayed I would worry about chemistry. He wanted out and got out and the Clippers got a quality player in return and a 1st rounder. Cassell is a good player, he faced injuries last year yet he still put up good numbers. For player who was injured he put up 13.5 points and 5.1 assists, not bad all. Cassell has been working hard this summer as reported and if he comes in with the right mind set he should do very nicely.

nicely put weasel, he was injured and on the decline, and he still put up decent numbers. Even if cassel doesnt play with the clippers for more than this year, i just hope he mentors livingston

Re: No Jaric? No problem!
I'm just saying that if Jaric was healthy, then yes we would definitely be losing out.... but the fact that he gave us not ONE, not TWO, but THREE seasons FULL of injuries... how the hell are we losing out?

Defense off the bench, that's how. I believe Sam Cassell is going to be better than Jaric for one season, but what happens after that? That's all i'm saying, we've got a low first round pick at best. Signing Sam to an extension of anything more than 1 year is a bad idea, considering how he'll probably never accept anything below the MLE.
Jaric is worth much more over the next 3-4 years, but Minnesota still probably vastly overpaid. I just wish we could've kept Jaric for a reasonable price instead.
And for all you guys who keep complaining about injuries, do you all think we should just dump shaun livingston for an expiring contract and a protected first rounder if he gets hurt again this year?

If the Clipper are thinking the same way I am thinking they only use Cassell for one year and let him walk. It wouldn't be a huge lose being by that time Livingston will be ready to carry the team. In my opinion Chalmers was exchanged for the 1st rounder since I think a Jaric for Cassell would have been a decent deal. Since Chalmers is not worth a first rounder, it turns out great.

Re: No Jaric? No problem!
Well, I'd choose to dump livingston if he is Injury riddled. I mean, it's nice to have a good player, but not when that player is always in street clothes.

I don't think Livingston will be injury pron player. Last year he had a pretty tough year but it is time to shine and shine he will.
