2006 All Star Game...

What Clipper will be on the 2006 NBA All Star West squad?
Brand?
Maggette?
Cassell?
Mobley?
Kaman?

I say 2 Clips make the team.
Won't need a ballot stuffing hype at Staples to get them in either.
Don't need anymore t-shirts or bobbleheads...
Let's get down to some serious ball and get this team to the next level.
Let's start a WAVE here and get this team to the #6 slot in the playoffs with 2 All-Stars on the roster. Kaman, i believe, will have a monster year. Not many great centers in the West. Plus... i think if the Clips are to go somewhere, this #6 pick in 2003 will need to jump up to the top echelon of centers.

My vote for All-Stars this coming season will be....

Kaman
Cassell

Brand has no chance. Maggette will not make it now with Mobley hitting key shots in key games. Cassell will show the Clips how to win games in crunch time.
Livingston will learn how to master the thinking game of this league and the "acting" game too.

Late-

Re: 2006 All Star Game...

i dont think anyone will be an allstar, and thats not necessarily a bad thing. This is one of the most balanced teams in the league. As one writer said, the clippers will be starting 4 people who all have averaged 20 points a game in their career, and who all could hit 20 on any given night. But thats too much offense to spread around, especially with a good bench. Thus, he predicted NO ONE will average 20 on the clippers this yaer.

For example, it could end up being
Brand 18
Maggette 19
Mobley 18
Kaman 12
Cassell 13
Rebraca 6
Wilcox 6
Ross 5
Singleton 2
Livingston 10
And that right there would have them making more points a night than the suns last year unless im mistaken, so even that would be a stretch. Unless a key starter gets injured, i dont see anyone on the clippers becoming an all star. I just see an incredibly balanced team from 1-8 on the depth chart: Kaman, Brand, Maggette, Mobley, Cassell, Livingston, Rebraca, Ross. I think we MIGHT see games where ONLY those players get playing time, again, just like the suns last year, perhaps with wilcox getting some minutes during front court foul trouble.

I don't think anyone will make the all-star team from the Clippers.

I dont think anyone will till the start making the playoffs reguarly and suceeding in the playoffs. Plus they dont have one guy who is gonna dominate with numbers.

Re: 2006 All Star Game...

If anyone makes the All-Star team it would be Livingston this season, and that will only be if he miraculously gets a quantam leap in abilities.

Clippers will be a good team, but they seem to be built more like Detroit or the Blazers that Challenged the Lakers in the Conference Finals in 2000.

Re: 2006 All Star Game...

I am going to have to agree with yamaneko with this one. We are not going to have any reps, but our team will still be strong. Plus, i would take a playoff birth over an allstar appearance any day. Look at the clips of 2000 - Brand made the allstar team (as a reserve after shaq withdrew) and we missed the playoffs. If we make the playoffs this season i will be a very happy fan.

Re: 2006 All Star Game...

we might not have anyone on the actual game but on a side event, maybe Cat in 3PT shoot out, or Maggs back in dunk contest, maybe Livingston in the PG Challange and Rook/Soph game?

Re: 2006 All Star Game...

Maggette and Brand always have a chance, but when it comes to the starters, no clipper has a chance. Livingston might in a couple of years, but no one currently will make it.

Poor Brand is maybe the 4th best PF (i see him and JO as equal) in the league, the problem is, the 3 top guys ahead of him all play in the same conference and are probably all within the top 7 best players in the whole league. BUT he can easily make it as a reserve if one of those guys goes down, other coaches always recognize the ability of brand, even though the public does not.

Maggette is in a different boat, obviously T-mac wins the starting line up again, so forget that. His competition for the backup spots is Shawn Marion, AK47, 'Melo, and Odom. Maggette is really right on par with all of them at this point. He should get more wide open drives with the new guards, which will place him ahead of Melo and Odom. And even though everyone keeps saying his points are gonna go down, i see the opposite, the clippers have the potential to be a well-oiled offensive machine if they work together and push the tempo. Using Cassell as a starter, Livingston as a back up and Tabuse as a spark plug will allow the clippers to push the ball up the court at break neck speed. If the top 3 guard rotation hits its shots, Maggette can easily get the same amount of looks, only this time, the defense won't collapse, meaning those "And 1" shots he usually misses will probably go in.

I know it's pretty long winded, but basically my vote goes for Corey Maggette, he has a great opprotunity this year to make a huge leap and take his slashing to a whole new level. If he picks up his defense as well, i don't think AK47 or Marion can keep him out of the all-star game.

i totally agree with yamaneko...i know that clipper players in general don't seem to get any respect aka all-star choice even when they are the best player at that position (EB)...i'd rather see yamaneko's situation come to fruition because it would make it more difficult for teams to key on your "all-star" player...we have many more offensive options and players like Z & wilcox are capable of double figure scoring given the pt and matchups.
