Off-Season Grade?

With training camp shortly coming up, how would you grade the Clippers off-season?

B+. Good, not great, but still better than most.

Re: Off-Season Grade?

I give it a B, losing Simmons was tough but the Clippers did something they hadn't done before and signed a quality player. Re-signing Rebraca was a great decision, I think at his price it worked out well for the Clippers. Not re-signing Mikki and Brunson hurt, especially Mikki since everyone liked him. Trading Jaric I would have to say is a plus since it was evident that other teams were going to offer him a fat contract that the Clippers wouldn't match. Even if Cassell doesn't turn out to be good the Clippers get a nice, surprise 1st rounder out of it. Drafting Korolev and Ewing was a little disappointing since there were other players on the board that many thought would have been a better pick than Korolev but hopefully he makes us proud and proves us wrong.

Re: Off-Season Grade?

B. I dont know if they will be able to mess right yet I will have to wait and see but at lesat they didnt get stuck with a huge cap problem maybe in the futre. But the draft to me was dissapointing but will have to wait and see what happens with that.

Re: Off-Season Grade?

Korolev... I know, that was a bitter pill to swallow, especially when so many of the teams ahead of them had made such blunders, and left so much talent still on the table. Hell, I would've drafted Green on potential alone, even if it's just his potential to throw down a monster dunk. Still, I think Coach Dunleavy has an eye for talent, so Korolev may yet prove us all wrong, and as I've said before, he seems humble, and ready to work hard.

I heard during the season that Korolev's parents will be him, I dont know if that will either push him harder or that just adds pressure.

Re: Off-Season Grade?

B

I expect a chemistry problem in the beginning of the season, and would like to have kept Mikki and Bobby. Because of the veterans we added, I'm hoping that we won't lose too many games trying to get the chemistry to mesh. We will need the perfect rotation, which Dunleavy struggled with at times during last season (not knowing when to pull Kaman).

But ... I'm optimistic about the team that we have put together and like that we kept Wilcox (against all voices) and Maggette.

Looking forward to making the Playoffs. LET'S GO CLIPPERS!!!!!

Re: Off-Season Grade?

If you break each significant off season move down individually

Draft - If the Clips hadn't drafted Korolev where would have been taken? Was anybody talking about this guy other than the Clips? C-

Simmons walks, Mobley signed to 5/42M deal. PPGs and shooting efficiencies similar, Cat provides better ball handling and ability to create shots. Team takes defensive hit. C+

Jaric S&T'd for Cassell. Team has no long term financial obligation however putting an aging Cassell in position to battle for playing time with your franchise's future is a little worrisome but since Shaun missed the SPL after slamming his thumb in a car door then said his shoulder isn't healed and may not be for years give the move some credit. Either way, team takes another defensive hit and other options were available. Incomplete / C+

Mikki Moore walks, McCarty signed. Any injuries at the 4 or 5 spots this is going to hurt bad. F

Rebracca resigned Glad his wife likes LA. B+

Over all - C

This is going to be a much more entertaining team to watch play but you win with defense and the Clip's back court will get lit up frequently but with few key injuries, and no chemistry problems, they might score their way into the play offs ............

Not complaining, we welcome all here ... just curious why the sudden interest from Laker fans who are notorious for badmouthing and putting the Clippers down?

Have you noticed that the Clipper players are out all over LA at community events?

Last night, again, I heard they were at an event for kids in the community. It was mentioned that Clippers players and management was there, but only the Laker girls showed up to rep the Lakers.

OUR players are being INVITED out to the community. I'm loving it.

I think he is a closet Clippers fan... Or at least.. He likes that the Clippers give a little rivialry to the Lakers next year to make it a little more interesting of a season.
