NBA 2005 preview: Pacific Division

Quote:
The coach — Mike Dunleavy will grin and bear it for another frustrating season. But Cassell's confrontational attitude will seriously challenge his equanimity. Through it all, Dunleavy is advised to heed the enigmatic words of Kevin Loughery: "Coaching is both the best and the worst ways to earn a living."

Re: NBA 2005 preview: Pacific Division

I think Cassell could be either a hit or miss. I think he is probably going to be a hit, for some reason I don't think of Mike D. as being a wuss when it comes to keeping players in check, I totally see him benching Cassell if he doesn't listen to the total game plan. If you see him sitting half-way through the season, with no comments you know why.

I'm more concerned with this being Cassells contract season. It could either be A) he plays great ball, follows the gameplan, looks awesome, then signs somewhere else next year for more money than he is worth.. Or B) He trys to show off and ball hog, which he is kind of known for at times... Just to bring his market value up he does stupid stuff.. Putting himself before the team, etc.

However, I do have some fears I honestly do see Mike D. putting up with his crap.. So I forsee a good season on Cassells end. He knows what his role is and what he needs to do despite his past.

In a sense I agree with you CD, Cassell right now as it stands has a bad reputation over his head. I think Cassell knows that if wants to continue to succeed in the league that he will have to get past his ways. If can do this by A) getting back into his dominating form and B) cleaning up his image by being a team player.

Cassell needs to have a big year if he wants a new contract from another team. I think he will be motivated but I hope he doesnt become selfish.

I think he will be smart enough to play team ball.. He isn't getting any younger.. And he wants a decent contract.

Re: NBA 2005 preview: Pacific Division

"Winning is about sacrifice, success is about sacrifice," said Cassell. From what he says and from his attitude in training camp. Cassell I think is gonna have a good and help the clippers to the playoff, even if has to come off the bench. Even with a backup role, he still can score thirty or hit the clutch shot.
