Our Minnesota Draft Pick

Anyone else hoping that Minnesota DOESNT make the playoffs this year? Unfortunately if the season ended today, they would be the 3rd seed due to all the losses their division has, but the only thing that seperates them from that seed, and out of the playoffs is about 3 more losses. So it is possible they wont make the playoffs.

I personally do NOT want them to make the playoffs due to our lottery protected pick. next year might be one of the weakest drafts in years, due to it being the first year with the new age rule, so many people declaring last year, and the lack of talent at the international level. Right now, a pick in the late 1st round is projected to be the likes of Steven Smith, Paul Davis, Randy Foye.....?????? Lionel chalmers would probably go 16th in this draft.

However, in 2007, you will have the very talented current high school senior class, as well as other strong college players who might be declaring. Id like to see the clippers have a possible lottery pick in 2007, as opposed to getting a 1st rounder next year which would equate to a 2nd rounder any other year.

Anyone know if there are any restrictions on our pick in 2007 if it goes until then? Such as top 3 protected, etc.? Or no matter what its ours if minnesota is out of the playoffs this year?

Re: Our Minnesota Draft Pick

I personally do not care, I think the better players are usually selected later on in the draft. Think about it, they may not evolve into star players but they are solid players. Star players are usually only 2 of the top ten picks.

Or something like that.

Re: Our Minnesota Draft Pick

well in this draft theres only a few names that i see which i want Clippers to get.

Andrea Bargnani, Tiago Splitter, Marco Bellenillie, Marko Tomas

Chances are all four of them might go in the lottery or the top 17.

Matias Sandes on the other end is the person I really want and he won't go early, might be a mid to late second rounder. He's an excellent shooter, just needs to bulk up like most foreign kids, He's a great rebounder and has excellent basketball IQ.

Reportedly he has rejected some offers from major european teams including the two time Champs Maccabi Tel Aviv, CSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow. Also has rejected a full scholarship offer from Temple University.

I've seen him play a few teams and it seems like he has excellent basketball IQ and a sweet mid range shot. He can aslo hit the outside shot, but he never falls in love with it. IMO, I'd really like Matias Sandes, but sadly he's a SF where we already have Korolev and Singleton to develop. Bargnani or Splitter are the two I'd love to get, but I doubt we will.

And about this draft being weak, I highly don't think it's weak. You have your Rudy Gay, Adam Morrison, LaMarcus Aldridge and Andrea Bargnani, but then you have ur Matias Sandes, Gerry McNammara, and Vladamir Vereemenko's. It's all about finding the gems, and given how Dunleavy has been able to find some gems (Singleton, Simmons, Ross and Korolev which is still a question), I think we could be able to get someone to contribute right now.
